9.5 months of the year, our windows stay closed. But now that it's open window season, my mental door closing calibration is off. The pressure build up that lets me throw a door closed without it slamming only works with the windows closed. So now every time I go to the bathroom, it sounds like I'm pissed off and slamming doors because I toss them closed like it's still winter.
This happens to me every year, and every year, my brain recalibration roughly coincides with fall when the windows get closed again.

These are less than a month old. Adidas-era Five Ten kinda sucks.
Season five beating the shit out of my pre-Addi five tens. BS. Same Pro model. My laces aren’t as slick.Originally Posted by evasive_MT;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640

Yeah I stopped buying 5.10s for that same reason. Pre adidas you could shoe-goo them and they'd be solid for a few more years. Post adidas once the edge starts to split the sole would rot out and fall off within a year. I moved on to using trail runners for biking which work great considering the amount of hike a bike I do.
4am ish. Smoke/CO detector in the upstairs hallway starts wailing. Of course it is up on the ceiling out of reach and my step ladder is down in the garage. No smoke or any reason I can tell it would have gone off (all heaters/stoves are electric). It's new within the last year with internal battery.
I think my next pair might be from Shimano.
More annoying shit: Adidas’ warranty solution is to send me a shipping label and 20 days after they receive the shoes, they’ll email me a gift card for their webstore. But I’ll have to pay for shipping, because that’s a club-only feature, and I’m not joining.

So the detector that went off at 4am was one half of a two-pack. It has been sitting on my desk downstairs since. The other one is in the kitchen near the stairwell down to the garage. A few minutes ago it started wailing. WTF?
Other shit that annoys me....discovering an apple left in a backpack for weeks from the cloud of fruit flies that emerge when you pick up the pack. This was a gross one complete with maggots and fermenting apple juice leaking all over the bottom of the pack. Wonderful.
Our daughter with a Masters and dual certs in elementary ed and special ed and almost 4 years of in-classroom experience just can not seem to get a job, even another TA position. She keeps going on interviews and at some point they ask a question in Spanish and when she falters the interview pretty much ends. Like many suburban kids she can communicate in Spanish but she is not bilingual by any stretch and that keeps fucking her up. I mean, c'mon, the kid knows her shit, loves the work and we spent a metric fuckton of $$ to get her to this point and this is what has her unable to get a job? WTF! Very annoying...
I am sure she'll get one eventually but teaching is wierd in that the masters and years of experience can work against you. Makes you more expensive to hire and schools are always stretched to the limit. I always tell aspiring teachers to find a job in a place they like, THEN start work on your masters.
That said, with those certs she is very employable. If it were me I would substitute teach every day I could (making a real effort to get to know the admins) and take some online Spanish classes in the meantime. Good luck to her.
Nah, she should take an extended trip to MX or South America to learn Spanish by immersion. You should pay for it. It'll help.
Is bilingual Spanish fluency posted as a job requirement? Because if she didn't mind burning some bridges locally, im sure she could find some odious people willing to take up her case. Of course then she'd have to have some association with awful people.
What about a different district? Im willing to bet that there are positions elsewhere in the state tgat don't have tgat requirement. And if im am wrong and the whole state is like that, well, good luck to the state finding enough teachers. Im all for being able to communicate with students of all backgrounds, however English is the language of instruction in our public schools.
Further proof that the ongoing so-called "labor shortage" is a complete lie. Among other things, modern hiring practices are completely broken.
Sorry your daughter is dealing with that. Been there until quite recently and it is complete BS.
