    CycloCross Bikes

I'm interested in spending 500-1000 dollars on a cross bike. I basically am looking for something I can use pretty hard in the streets of Seattle and is capable of handling knobby tires. (I'm not one to stick to roads.) I also want something with a good frame I can hang onto for a long time.

I currently have a MTB, which is great but weighs a ton and isn't the best for commuting on.

I've tried the Kona Jake and enjoyed the ride, but I haven't tried anything else.

Also, what is a good shop in SEA to go to to get the bike fitted? If I'm going to drop some coin I want/need a good fit.

    Any ideas?

Take a good look at the Jamis Nova. Nice ride and fits your budget.

Good shops in Seattle - Montlake and TiCycles. Neal at Montlake is a great guy and Fabien at Ti definitely knows his stuff.

Try and demo an Airborne titanium x-bike. Really nice. They are above your price range, but there may be a used one around.
