    Conflicted over Spring Break travels-WWMD???

I graduate in May and this will be my last spring break ever, so my plan was to make it a good one. This season was supposed to be spent competing big mountain and skiercross, coaching, and SKIING ALOT!!! Then winter just sort of bypassed the PNW...so I haven't really gotten much good skiing in. Plus I have enjoyed the traveling that I have gotten in this season more than the one comp that I have been in. I just gave up on competing this season. So my friend Holly from Whistler and I started to formulate a road trip to Tahoe for my spring break. She will be done with her job in two weeks, I will have a week off. We would have a free place to stay and hook ups on tickets throught out Tahoe and Mammoth. I was stoked to just go ski and play...then Holly calls me yesterday and leaves a message asking if I want to bag Tahoe and compete in the Fernie Freeride comp March 16-20.
So there are my choices- go ski decent snow with the possibility of powder in Tahoe for a week OR head up to Fernie to compete and maybe get some comp results for this season.
Tahoe would be cheap, but a bitch of a drive. However, it is totally worth it for me. Fernie would be cheap too, but the snow isn't as great from what I know (and any input would be appreciated). Plus, I am not in good shape for skiing. I have skied 2 times in the last 3 weeks and with our weather pattern and school stuff to take care of, the next few weeks aren't looking good. Tahoe...Fernie...Tahoe...Fernie???????

Tahoe. Bluebird or powder, one or the other, plus endless easy access BC options, lots of peeps to hook up and ski with, cheap tix if you know where to hunt for them, and bar/pool/spa at the top of Squaw for the best apres ski this side of Cham.

Holly and I are going to have "The Talk" tonight. The more I think about it I am leaning towards Tahoe. It has been a LONG time since I was last there. I also really want to hit up Mammoth while I am down there. This way I don't have to wait until I don't qualify to start partying!
Anticipate my next thread seeking Tahoe/Mammoth maggots who want to show a couple of PNW chicks around the local terrain.

    Tahoe!

I'm heading for Tahoe on my break at the same time. I figure it will be nice spring conditions and we might get lucky with a storm...

Tahoe for sure. Fernie is starving for snow right now and although things can change in a hurry you should make your last spring break trip memorable and Tahoe would do just that.

    Cool

    Tahoe.

    Tahoe.

    Tahoe.

With the epic season that they are having... don't even think twice about it! Competing can wait for next season when you've got the days in. Your last college spring break has gotta be strictly for fun!

So says the guy who worked his last spring break so learn from my miserable experience!!

Your problem might be indecisiveness. But then again, it might not be.

GS, you have 2 couches to crash on if you need it in PC, but if you are still thinking about moving to ooootah, then i'd say check out tahoe since you'd already have a whole year or two or three or four........to ski utah every day.....

    Tahoe - no question!

It's been an epic year, and the storms won't stop coming! Depending on when your break is, would the Kirkwood comp be an option near the end of April?

The drive really isn't that bad - you can make it to Mt. Shasta easily and take a break to ski there . . . they've gotten all the storms Tahoe has gotten, and then some! There's a small ski area there, and endless backcountry options

And the Tahoe crew is super fun and geographically diverse, so you'll have plenty of great people to show you around!

It may be to early, but the Spring Mammoth Mini is from April 28th to May 1st. Last year was an absolute and total blast!

Oh yeah... what about spending your time at my house? I'm sorta near Tahoe...

Ok...the decision has been made...We will be in Tahoe by the 13th of March. I love Kellie's idea of swinging by Shasta on the way down too. My parents have a house on the south shore that we are going to be taking over, so lodging is set. We plan on skiing Squaw, Sugarbowl, and Kirkwood with a quick 2 days spent down in Mammoth...you know what...I should just post a new thread to link up with all the Tahoe/Mammoth kids. To be continued. Thanks to everyone for your input. I think that i knew all along I was going to head to Cali.

What's Spring Break? God, what I wouldn't give to be back in school.

If it were me, I'd go somewhere hot and tropical with my hobble-knee husband, otherwise my vote's for Tahoe.

Good call GS! I hope you have a blast!

BTW, it was great seeing you guys last Sun. Sorry for bailing on you at the summit. Just after you dropped into G. Valley the little man had a fit because he wanted to go with his friends (they were headed for the pool ). I hope all went well with the rest of the afternoon.

Anways have fun, and ski safe... no bad ju ju.
