Mt. Carlyle Lodge A TR from 2/13

Fri brought no sun but the warming/wind did affect the snow
We returned to carpenter. Toph and I cut our high traverse. skied down from little prospector
and crossed the valley floor for some wood workin in the lumber yard.
Warming temps and wind jacked the avvy danger and a decent sized natural had released up canyon in the c morraine/ n dancer area.
Above the lumber yard is the icecream cone peak and a few naturals were visable above us

not sure on the vert but if conditions allowed from the top of the icecream cone down through the lumber yard would be a few k and definately one of those dream runs
We lapped a few runs on the creamy dream snow as the rest of the crew skied across valley in the softer protected snow of the prospector /carpenter trees

finally on our last day the sun came back skies cleared and the bluebirds sang
a couple of dawn shots



we all headed up to the misty peak sky walk


after 6 days of graybird just being able to bask in the sun and take in the veiws was stunning

The group split w/ 1/2 joining pp in carpenter basin
and rick wd pam toph I and Zed heading over to pull the ripcord on skydive
FKNA Zed was a trip for whatever reason pondo had a few people back out and had a hard time filling the trip so the bomber hooked us up w/ the Zedster
Zed was a trip an Aussie who had been a caknuckle head for a few decades.
Zed rolled w/ a barbie camelback pack a plastic bladed shovel tucked in sideways, probe, water a roll of duct tape and 1 joint for every 1000ft. of vert he anticipated.
His skis were soli pocket rockets w/ 9 -16's and treckers w/ two tone sew togather old school coltex skins and a securefix back up for the treckers.
Zed rolled leave no turn unstoned mantra and he made a lot of turns and burned hard,
Maybe it's an aussie thing but Zed said whatever came to his mind be it anti semetic, racist funny or not and he had the stories most of which cracked me up
Zed was a fisherman and spent a lot of his summer on his boat and showed up w/ a bounty from the sea. salmon king coho silver cod halibut both fresh and smoked and he and tophers fish night was the culinary highlight of the trip for me.
Being a fellow stoner who pursues the fishes w/ passion zed and I got along fine and when he'd come up with whacky everyone who gets married is stupid I'd just smile wink at the mrs. and remember most of the truely stupid stunts I pulled were before I had a better 1/2 to answer to.
