Hitting up the Verbier Ride? Cool shit, I know Warren, who runs that show, real well - cool guy, awesome coach and rad skier. And he puts on a good comp, never heard anyone who's competing complain of anything at any of W's shows that the man himself can directly influence.

Ohh...and Verbier is hella fun, so its hard to not have a good time there whatever happens.

That is fuggin awesome. That means that Craigers will be in all 3 World Tour Events. He's already got a top 10 finish at Snowbird (+ the Sick Bird award) with some points under his belt, he almost always gets top 10 at Kirkwood (and dare I say a top 5 this year?), so if he get some points in Yurp I bet we'll see Kirkwood Craig near the top of the final world tour results. How cool would that be?

Tyrone - Verbier isn't part of WT. It is on the Yurp tour, but no the WT.

Unless Splat meant Les Arcs? Which kicks off in the next few days I think, and is the WT stop over here.....

hmmm....hopefully it's the Les Arcs event (which might make sense if he's missing this weekend's CB event to be over there). Would love to see this guy do well in the overall standings.

Looks like the Captain went down with the ship again.

But I just know he's gonna float that boat one of these days.

CB has a great history of supporting great skiers. Gina Kroft did a lot for the extreme/freeride scene, more than anyone, by starting it all with Frank Coffee way back when and supporting the growth of the circuit.

    GABE ROBBINS

    KILLING IT!!

This makes me so happy. Gabe Robbins has killed it in obscurity for a long time.
He was an awesome coworker, and was one of those guys who would take a new guy and show you the good lines. A true champion ski bum.

There was a pretty amazing group of skiers working in the Crested Butte rental shop in the mid 90s...Gabe, Shroder Baker, Gerrit Van Schaick(sp??), Dean Davis...it made every day's ski break another incredible show of talent. Great to see these guys breaking through!!

Super cool, humble kid too. Skied with him down at CB this year, couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.

Thanks for the idea, Ty. I kinda have a unique perspective on it because I worked with them to bring a second competition beyond CB to Kirkwood back in the day. After finding out just what a jerk our beloved team leader at Kirkwood was, I bailed. KW came back and asked me to do the contest a second year and I said forget it. Chaco Mohler then got Southwest Airlines to sponsor KW's first contest. I think it slipped away one year but has been going off since. And that's good for the rippers.

Can anybody confirm that the Scott Kennett who finished 3rd in the Masters Men category is the same Scott Kennett from The Good, The Rad and The Gnarly, owner of Zudnick, etc., etc.?

If so, props to an old school skier who's still out there crankin' turns.

yup, you sure do...that's why I posted to plant the seed for ya (if you didn't already have it). I remember you telling me some stories about the original KW event, and you also have some history on CB...seems all you'd have to do is get some quotes from McSchlonk about the beginnings of IFSA and you'd have something that could be pretty cool. And since KW is now the World Tour Finals venue, it would be interesting to see how it got to become that way, from the beginning...or something.
