    Maggot crew

I know the guys in Kirkwood have a solid maggot crew and I guess there are others elsewhere. Doesn't it feel a little strange sometimes, especially whenever someone not from the forum is along and you catch yourself using some of the insidespeak?

It just trips me out that I'm skiing with these guys all the time now - Brett, Lone Star, Evil E, Marshall, et al. You guys are awesome - great skiers, fun to hang out with, feels so good to run around the mountain like a pack of crazy monkeys - faster than everyone else, hucking off every available feature, going straight to all the best lines, with all the coolest skis... It's very, very good. But a little nerdy internet strange too, no?

I went to buy a pair of skis off some random dude on ebay and he asked if I was the same bad_roo as was on TGR.

    I felt like the ubergeek.

It's not as bad as when I hang out with the guys from my Magic: The Gathering board, but it's pretty bad.

And when people ask you how you met and you have to say, well, on the internet. It's not quite Yahoo! Personals, but shite.

Until somebody goes out there and stomps it cleaner, I don't think anybody has anything to say.

Funny, no one has mentioned dressing up as a pirate yet.

Hmmm... I've wondered this myself; why am I self-conscious about telling non-internet people that I'm hanging out with some internet buds, when the internet buds are bad-ass skiers?

Must have something to do with my childhood. [/dr phil]

Why am I not remembering this? I seem to get into trouble pretty consistently at the Cantina...

Stoy introduced my to a non-maggot at the Banff film festival. Said "You don't want to know how we met"

On the flipside. I have met the best BC partners this year. Getting more done than ever before with these young punks, and some older ones too (you know who you are).

One or two phone calls, a PM, and BAMMM. Your off to ski some cool shit.

We tried to get your skis yesterday, darlin.

Marshall's store in Boulder is the COOLEST. Those working conditions should not be allowed. Sorry I forgot the name of the place. But I got me a north face poof for $98!!! And they've got kayaks and bikes and it's just all playtoys in there, at prices someone could actually afford. Should not be allowed!

The first meeting was the worst, from then on I didn't care. My other friend knows that I'm an uber-nerd anyways, so he really doesn't think anything of it.

everyone knows I'm a geek, so my friends aren't surprised. I just hype it up a little with "he's the BEST skier you've ever seen!!!" and the reality always holds up to the hype.

I never know what to say. I am the only one around here on the board and no one really knows about my interweb pals. It has only come up as a problem when I am driving 16-24 hours to go ski with people of whom I can only give a shady explaination. At least a few people here have met Splat and I can say I'm skiing with him and some other people so it sounds reasonable.
Move along nothing to see here.

I can agree that the internet pal thing is both the super coolest and super wierdest. I took a trip to silverton with 2 guys that Id never met before. They showed up at my doorstep and introduced themselves and then we spent the next 3 days together driving, skiing, hiking, and sleeping way too close to each other at the triangle.

Great people, great vibe, and my skiing (or should I say airtime?) has improved significantly. So much stoke here... I love this board!
