    FULLY DISAGREE.

relying on "the right" ski to suit the conditions won't make you a better skier, it just makes skiing easier.

skinny skis in pow, dull skis on hardpack/ice will make you a better skier. fat skis are like having training wheels. fun, but you don't need balance/skills to ride em. pow was a much more preserved commodity from the lifts and in the bc before fat skis. no everyone can do it.

I agree with Old Goat - get all your weight on your downhill ski - having most weight on one ski helps it dig in more. If it grips then carve normally, with extra attention to keeping your weight and hands forward, because otherwise the fast conditions will put you in the back seat. If you can't sink an edge, then the conditions are no longer fun and it's time to hit the Pickle Barrel.
I think you may need to change the batteries in your sarcasm meter, sir. Or perhaps as a newcomer you missed the epic (in more ways than one) Lift Your Inside Ski thread.

gordycamp? meh. don't go to utah to become a better skier. utah skiing is way too easy with all that foofy snow lying about. nothing challenging or gnar about soft snow. feels good, but that's about it.

Read this book. Also engage your edges early and keep skis equally weighted to keep from skidding so much on ice.
Change is good. You go first.

or you could just pop a couple of viagra before you go skiing so all the blood goes from your brain to your tiny frozen east coast dick and you stop overthinking everything.

    Cus its fucking boring?

Get 5 150 day seasons in a row and you will find discussions of technique utterly boring as well. Thats the secret, spend a lot of time on snow.

stop showing up on the hill in those 90+mm under foot fatties w/ little to no sidecut.

get a pair of ice skates. i.e. old school 65 - 70mm under foot. u can find a used pair for under 100$ w/ bindings in resale shops. sharpen and wax.
when not on the snow what else do i do...

Challenging snow makes good skiers, i.e. Michaela Shiffrin: Storr's Hill, Lebanon, NH -> Burke Mtn Academy. 'nuff said.

    Technique 101:
    1. Ski. A lot.
    2. Scout good skiers. Buy them beer.
    3. Ski with good skiers.
    4. Ski. A lot.

    If this doesn't work, lessons
i find that full beers in my backpack can put me in the backseat quickly. once i move that weight around to my belly everything falls into place.

I just want to go on record that I like Beer and am a good skier.

I use to train/race at Storr's hill....that place is too damn short and flat to make you a great skier, but BMA doesn't hurt.

It's funny, because you often search out the shitty snow while at gordycamp.

Try park skis. Tighter turns. seriously. sidecut radius for snowboards is like 6 to 8, super turny.

imagine gong all the way to utah to search out shitty snow? fuck people are weird.

not hard to find if you go across the road, climb a few k and ski sup and variations there of after the suns been out the day before and a light refreeze has occurred. only rule is ya gotta ski it pre-resoftening. nice breakable crust. that'll learn the students right quick. now only if sup were steeper........
