    S. Fork was good until the heat wave and crowds slowed things up a bit.

Thinks this guys has eaten a few salmon flies?

Spent last week in Vegas for IFTD, took home some hardware, and met this guy. Solid.

A great weekend and feast of seafood. Bacon wrapped halibut cheeks and fresh king crab with a water front view.

Pulled in a few kings this season too but I can't find any pictures at the moment. Waiting for the silvers to run.

2-rowing a drift boat is fkn fun! I enjoy sitting at the sticks and rowing people so thy can catch fish almost as much fun as the fish catching myself.
    3-It's always 420 somewhere.

Sfb knows that river better than I know the back of my hand. I highly recommend fishing it with him.... its a damn good time!

pleasure sharin river time in the pursuit of the fishes
strong work on the boat control sticks
like I said plenty of good rods out there, but the ability to row in a manner condusive to catchin not so much
headed back up w/ my pops for sum more

    ran into telee

good floatin w/ ya the old man got a bit of triple digit rod bendin trout slayin heat exhastion so we bailed @ camp

nothin a dip in the cooling waters, some libations and good grub couldn't fix

cicadia madness continues but is windin down a bit

still a lot of piggies willing to eat the big ugly bug

I sucks at tyin but threw togather a few
    which worked as it
looks like the bloated zombie cicadias are hatching

    plenty of

    in the eve
still plenty of little yeller sallies
this pattern seemed to hook em

and of course there are always those lookin for an easy meal swimmin by

rolled out early fri and came across this

looks like red creek ate another. They rowed by pugs around 8 or 9 the night bfore
word was they hiked out and came back around for the salvage mission
Rained a bit and they coated the bp road w/ magnesium chloride for dust control

    thank jah for boat covers

pops left for strawberry and I finally got the mrs. away from her summer of ragnar, rim 2 rim, zion 2 capital reef marathon silliness
    for some river time
Rained a bit and dampened her spirits,

but it cleared up and catchin only improved

    the next day after bfast

and the guide preppin for the day

loaded up the Tupperware mothership and headed out

always fun to share the water w/ fellow river rats and fur kids

more chicks on the sticks stoke

and phatty bows in the net

Got off bout 2 and the weather looked pretty ominoius.
    So we headed up N
Got camp set before the storm

rained pretty good that night, but the next morn dawned bright and buetious

Like schwerty reported from up river a smogasboard hatch going off and heads up and slurpin from 1st light till noonish

    mating swarms

The mrs. dropped me and the fish sniffer off at the damn and took the rig down and got her poundin the pavement fix runnin the shuttle.
I got my ass kicked that morn, last time I forgo the morning java rituial, never been a fishcounter, the pleasure I recieve from fly flingin is based in doing things right, with puttin em in the net being the final accumulation of that. So not being able to establish boat control not being able to put the fly where i think it needs to be, not getting the strip set and repeatedly loosin big fish humbled my ass hard, needing to not show up at camp an hour late per ussual only exasperated my continued flailing.
finally got er togather a bit and found the castin stroke still managed to not land every pig i hooked that day but exercised few and remembered how blessed i am to be able to spend time in such cool places with those who i luvs

rolled into the takeout to watch a bro just fuckin killin em two handed switch style was the highlight of the day
When he pulled down his osama bin guidin buff and revealed himself to be one of my favorite local shop rats who has always steered me right w/ immense gear and fishin techique knowledge it only made it better
fuck what am i gonna sell to finance a new toy i now feel the urge to master

Looks like pretty big water for Southern Appalachian brookies. Some sort of natural barrier there isolating the competition downstream?

Agree. This was really my first time specifically targeting Brookies, mainly due to high water everywhere. Figured I'd go as high as I could. The barrier is significant. Major waterfall gorge, which I have a few photos of in there, looking back from the top. . I wanted to fish down, but being alone, it wasn't worth the risk. Big falls/pools.
This creek is very narrow in most places as you would expect. There are a few spots where you can actually make a full back cast. Just a few. Believe me mike, I was a bit taken a back when I landed these fish, especially the 2nd one. But I've checked topo maps and its definitely over 5kft.

This isn't a super secret stream. Is in a guide book. Which comments on the openness "in spots" of the stream which is unusual. And in reality that's one thing that led me to go there. I like to cast(poorly). I've posted pics of the fish but not the l landscape, in local forums. Looking at all these pics, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out where I was.
Guess most people aren't up to the hike.

Last photo was down the road a bit...btw.

Due to an injury this morning, I'm filling in for somebody and headed to the DEAN tomorrow. If I don't have a heart attack first. TR to come.
