    "Silver Linings Playbook"

This movie has been very well-received critically. I thought it sucked. A lot. The end.

Then your money was spent wisely. I would have been happier if I lit mine on fire.

Kind of your average story about two mentally ill people falling in love.

Why do you hate the Eagles?

Honestly my favourite movie of the last few years was slum dog millionaire. That was an awesome movie.

I like Silver Linings. I thought the first half to 2/3rds was quite good, before it devolved into the formulaic Hollywood Rom-Com ending.

A lot of people like it. Of them I am not one. It did start out okay, but it kept getting worse all the way through. DeNiro's OCD, all the jogging, the dancing, the Eagles...man. But hey that's me.

Au contraire, we have a ton of them and my Dad was a shrink. Perhaps I am simply jaded by my lifelong exposure to actual crazy people and real psychiatrists. and eagles fans.

Hmmm, a sappy rom-com, with Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro?? Not sure why you would go into that with any expectations OTHER than "geeze this is gonna suck, bad"

Disclaimer: I have not actually seen this movie. I will not pay money to see anything that Robert DeNiro is in, let alone a romantic comedy with Bradley Cooper..

Whut? Seriously? Granted, the last film he was in that I thought was great was probably "The Score" with Edward Norton in 2001, but still, he's hardly the reason why I wouldn't see a movie. Nick Cage... yeah.

Gotta agree with you that the comedies need to stop. He needs to own the fact that he looks and sounds like a NYC wop thug.

yeah, I LOVE De Niro in his early stuff. Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, The Godfather II, Goodfellas, Casino, etc

but it seems like he'll sign on to any piece of crap nowadays. "Rocky & Bullwinkle"?!? "Analyze This/That", "Righteous Kill", "Machete" ummm "Everybody's Fine"??! etc etc

I had no idea until right now that Nick Cage's real last name is Coppola and he's Francis Ford Coppola's nephew. Not that it's relevant, but hey.

Notated so in Fast Times credits I think, but haven't checked. Good for him from getting away from the family name but it no doubt helped him.

Don't really think of cage as poison.. just in the past 10 or so years he's been desperate for $ so he'd appear in any piece of shit they threw his direction, so he's a symbol that it'll suck, not so much the reason for suckage.
Shit, I actually enjoyed Valley Girl and Wild at Heart as well, but there is SO much shit you'd have to wade through to find the nuggets that it's just not worth it.

To get back to the original topic, I was a little disappointed with SLP. The ending was sappy; given most of the subject matter I was expecting a much darker ending, not that that would have made it any better.

It kind of reminded me of As Good as it Gets, except not as funny and without Jack Nicholson.

I need to see it. When I saw the trailer, I immediately recognize the locations of the movie in Upper Darby Pa Llanerch Diner ect.
