    Talking Whoo hoo!

Not to be beaten to the punch by Mt. Baker or any one else, Crystal Mountain announces that it is opening limited operations (Chinook Express, Rainier Express and Green Valley lifts) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting this Thursday, November 20.

Lift tickets only $20 due to limited intermediate and advanced terrain.

(yes, yes...I know it will be "rock skiing" and while I won't be there it's still very encouraging)

Baker is waiting until Wednesday to announce. They haven't been beaten on opening day in quite a while.

Afternoon forecast is calling for 32+ more for Baker by Thursday, on top of the 40 there now. Might be a bit better than the weak opener last year.

Ah, well. See you mangs up there Sunday.

Depends on the forecast. Some are calling for 5 to 10" of water equivalent to hit the N. Cascades. The problem is, the freezing levels are rising to 6-7K tonight and a lot of that water is gonna fall as rain, not snow. That's why everyone except Crystal is waiting to announce their opening date until after this warm front moves through.

But Baker DID beat Crystal to the punch, and has already announced opening on Thursday as well as FULL OPERATION. HAH!

Heh. For better or for worse, so was I.
Tap and buddy, Timm@y and Timma@y's chica, and Schralper and I all hiked up halfway up Bachy. Boot deep pow and only one shot among the whole group as a reward. It was hollerin and howling up there too, snow coming down like mid-winter. If the coverage had been better, I would have said it was late Dec.

No pics, but opening weekend is coming up, maybe we'll post some then.

Any other lower PNWers gonna be around? Skyliner base at 7:45am on Sat... (For you out of towners...no tickets sold at Skyliner...passes and previously purchased ticks only, so be aware...). I'll be in red, prolly with a full face helmet on, testing out some new 1080s... Schralper will be there, no doubt, battle tested full face and maybe helmet cam on, prolly riding PRs or old XXXs... I might also be riding with a dood in blue on 1080s and a chick in orange on k2s...

    see y'all out there
    thank ullr it's finally here!
