Posting this here because clicking "gear swap" now takes you to Enthusify - where you can't discuss anything. I'm just curious as to what is going on with Google's mysterious algorithms.
I noticed something today:
1 - Google is starting to index in near realtime. Maybe this is old news for you SEO experts but not to me. A post I made on TGR about two hours ago is already indexed in Google. Search for "weak used ski market" - my post is number one in organic results.
2 - Posts you make on TGR can show up very high in Google topic searches. For example search for "possible to suffocate in powder" on google - my thread asking this question shows up on page one, position #8.
3 - Even though TGR discussion posts do rank, Epicski posts seems to be out-ranking TGR posts. I posted the identical question on Epicski the same day. Searching google for "possible to suffocate in powder" shows my epicski thread as the number 2 result, while the same thread on TGR made at the same time with the same title and the same content in the post is number 8. Page one search position makes a dramatic difference in the number of people who will click on a link.
4 - My Epicski gearswap postings rank very high in Google, while my TGR gearswap postings made via Enthusify are not ranking AT ALL. Example 1: Search Google for "westcomb vapor fx pants" - My Epicski gearswap post has them in the number 8 position on page one. My identical TGR post made via Enthusify does not rank at all. At least not in the first three pages that I looked. Example 2, even more dramatic - search "Nordica Hot rod nitrous ti" - My epicski for-sale post in their gearswap ranks NUMBER 1 on Google. My TGR for-sale post does not rank at all.
What's up with this? I'm not an SEO expert but I am very curious as to why Google's algorithms find the epicski for-sale posts to be so important they rank on page one but TGR's via Enthusify don't even show up (which is ironic because the Enthusify service claims to SEO their listings).
But again, TGR's discussion threads (not gearswap) and gearswap postings made the old way (list view) DO show up in Google searches, though not as high up as Epicski's.
If I got any of this wrong let me know - curious what your experience is on your own listings.
