I am new to the Denver area (Highlands Ranch) and I am seeking safety in numbers for some Backcountry skiing or snowboarding. I am a 40 year old professional with a bent towards outdoor adventure. I do allot of hiking, bike riding (road and mtn), backpacking, and of course skiing (now that I am back in Denver from a 10 year stint in South) when I can find the time. My goal is to get out at least every other weekend this season.
I am a novice when it comes to reading snow, but I am also not much of a risk taker (e.g. hucking off of cliffs) since I have a family. I do have the necessary safety equipment (beacon, probe, shovel, helmet, etc) and I have been doing some AT-skiing up at Berthoud to get my ski legs back. I would say that in the resorts I can ski black, but I am still getting use to the deeper powder. I am looking for some laid back partners that are not afraid to dispense advise and ski with "older" dog learning a new trick.
I would be interested in meeting up sometime in the future. I am new to doing BC on the front range, and havn't been to any zones on the front range at all. I lived in CB for a couple of years so I was doing most of my splitboarding there and in the San Juans.
