Killington has been the best attended women’s (it’s sexist that FIS still calls it “ladies”) slalom event.
Shiffrin is the most dominate skier on the FIS circuit.
There is one race in the USA and one other in Canada; only one of which is SL.
There are four separate events in Austria this year.
Will FIS realize this watershed moment in their sport, and schedule a few more races in upcoming years, or will FIS remain Euro, namely Austrian, dominated?
It will remain Euro.
Most US resorts capable of holding events, only want them early season.
Not trying to derail this thing, but how the hell is calling a woman a lady sexist or offensive in any way? Do you get offended by being called a gentleman?
“I really lack the words to compliment myself today.” - Alberto Tomba
Fuck yeah I'm offended! WTF makes you think I'm gentle?! Call me a gentleman and I'll throw you through the window ala Charles Barkley, you fucking pussy. Go ahead I dare you!

" I think about it everyday. It is my reminder to live life to the fullest. I get up early, go to bed late, 'cuz I got shit to do. Like I said, I'm 61. Not going to wait till I'm 81 to do stuff, ...
Get out there and do stuff!
Enjoy life to the fullest!!
See you on the slopes! "
I don’t think this will derail because ultimately Shiffrin is on her way to becoming the greatest ski racer of all time and she will deserve the status of GOAT without qualification, so I will try to answer.
There are two issues with the previous nomenclature. First, the discrepancy between labels “Men’s” and “Ladies’.” This places women in the pejorative.
Second, the history of the sport that denied women from entry for years because “ski racing was not properly feminine,” and when they are allowed to start competing, women are required to race as “ladies” to maintain said “femininity”

I'll also point out that there was a significant amount of support from women competing; the proposal was sponsored by both the gender equity working group and the athletes' group. All other concerns aside, if a group of people says "we'd really rather prefer you use this synonymous term that lacks the negative connotations of the term you're using", using the term preferred by the people to whom it refers seems like the right thing to do.
