Considering a possible move to the Provo area.
What's out there?
Gotta be better than Hammond.
Lots of both. Resort skiing is limited to Sundance. It's not AltaBird but a good low-key ski area. Shit tons of awesome touring, longer approaches than LCC/BCC/Millcreek but no crowds. Options can be a bit limited if avy danger is high though. There's enough biking options between Alpine and Payson to keep you busy for years. You're really not too far from Park City either, and almost an hour closer to the desert than SLC. Provo would really be an awesome place to live if it weren't Provo. Still an upgrade from Indiana though I'm sure.

I have friends who live up around Lehi/American Fork, and they ski BCC/LCC 50+ days per year in addition to having day jobs. That puts you at an easy Interstate commute to Provo, and still within easy striking distance of the goods.
If not, you might want to consider what Sir Shred points out. From the point of the mountain your probably 20 minutes from Provo. You are at great biking and have quick access to the front side cotton woods. Also, provo is great for fly fishing if you like that. Before you move into Provo, spend a week there and figure it out. There are alot of options. My friends that work in Provo live in Heber.
Pretty much. I'm sure there's plenty of nice folks there, but you will not be part of the club. Personally I don't need much of a social scene to be happy though and I would still consider it if I didn't have kids since there is so much to do and so many fewer users than the central wasatch. If you have kids in public school that would be a deal breaker for me. Lehi/AF/Highland is a good option. Still pretty close to LCC/BCC and very close to Draper riding. The I-15 rebuild is done and you would be traveling opposite the flow so it probably wouldn't be a bad commute to Provo at all.
Utah county is currently 80 percent Mormon.

I'm going to actually go out on a limb here, and say that I'd rather live in Indiana than Provo. Or really anywhere in Happy Valley.
I'm so hardcore, I'm gnarcore.
Seems like you could live in Draper and have an easy enough commute to Provo. Pretty much world class biking, if a little limited, but you'd also be within easy striking distance to LCC for skiing and everything else for biking.
The Googles say Draper-Provo=37 mins, Draper to Lindon=29 mins. Shit you could live in Sandy and have the best of everything. Sandy-Lindon=34 mins. As mentioned above, your commute would be opposite to prevailing traffic problems, so low-stress, as fast as you dare, smooth sailing.
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, flying through the air
Anyway, seriously, having a block full of Mormons hoping to get me saved really doesn't bother me. If fact, being a Christian, I can even respect them for caring enough to bother.

I have plenty of friends who are Mormon, including some great people on this forum; it's not that they (or the missionaries walking the streets) are trying to convert me from Christianity. It's tough to explain if you haven't really experienced it. It's more like the dominant culture just walls themselves off and everyone else outside isn't part of the club. It affects a lot more than you'd ever think.
And Provo, I can't explain that either. It's just about the worst place I've ever been.

Utah obviously has a lot to offer if you love the outdoors. Working in Provo does not mean you have to live there. I work 25 miles north of my home in Sandy. I would rather be a bit closer to all that I enjoy doing when not at my desk than closer to work with a long haul to play. For all of the outdoor activities I enjoy, I would prefer to live a little north of Provo and therefore get a better balance between time spent traveling to work and time spent traveling to play. Somewhere in between SLC and Provo would be awesome. Great rock climbing/skiing/biking/etc in BCC, LCC, Draper, American Fork Canyon and Provo Canyon. Find some middle ground and I think you'd be happy. As has been stated, the freeway system has just been heavily upgraded through Utah Valley so commuting should be better now than ever before.
edit: for reference, my house in Sandy is below the mouth of LCC. I love to climb, bike and ski in BCC, LCC, Draper and AF canyon. Living where I live is ideal for me. I don't mind driving to work in NSL (close to Bountiful) because when I get home, play is close. I'd rather have a quick drive for play considering my family. Climbing and skiing with my 6 year old daughter is easier when we have a short drive into the canyon and can get home quick. I'd be less inclined to drive farther with a family in the car every time we wanted to get outdoors.
