    Binding Issue

So this is less of a specific question than a "has anyone seen this before" type post. Here's my binding after my second day of the season, yesterday:

Now, I THINK this is the binding that hit the tree (along with my right quad, leading to a long, uncomfortable ride back from Tahoe last night, during which I learned much from this thread and others like it: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...f-fluid-in-leg). I guess it's also possible that this was the binding that pre-released, causing me to be flying horizontally at a tree in the first place, but it seems unlikely.

In any event, I'm already planning on heading to a shop for a new toe piece, or new binding if necessary, but I wanted to share. My friend made the good point that it's better that the toe piece turn 90 degrees than my knee did the same thing.

Yeah, that can happen because there is just 1 spring in there and the toe has all kinds of movement in any direction which is why they are such good binding.

Lower the din all the way and just straighten it. It's fine.
    No longer stuck.

Yep, no big deal, loosen the din and twist it back.

Whoah, some bad memories triggered there...
So, yes, very good point by your friend, as that is *exactly* what my brother's essentially identical type of binding looked like on April 4, 2007 at Kirkwood after his ski-binding hit a tree.
    As did his knee.
I'm pretty sure the binding was just fine after we rotated it back into position.
The knee though required some considerably more involved surgery and months of rehab to get it back into position...

    Thanks for the responses.

It's hard to tell from my crappy phone picture, but there's actually a small chunk missing from the toe piece, hence the trip to the shop.

Just got back from the doc, x-rays were negative. Yay!! It's just a massive bruise that will hopefully clear itself up in a couple weeks with some compression, ibuprofen, and ice.

Oh yeah, looks like you blew a wing. the wing assembly is replaceable, hopefully your shop has a spare.
