Stabil is junk, use Startron enzyme stabilizer.
2 of the manufacturers I do warranty repair for came out with service bulletins no longer endorsing Stabil, within 9-15 months carbs needed overhauling or replacing after being test run on Stabil, this was about 8 years ago. I have never used their product. A lot of treatments have alcohol in them, not good with E10 fuels. I've heard Stabil uses (used) a type of glycol; alcohol.

Stabil wont say exactly, just that 20% is additive mixture.

After ethanol induced fuel problems on the road last year in my Vanagon, I performed substanstial research into the ethanol debate. I found:
Ethanol is evil. For a bunch of reasons. How the corn lobby got this one through is amazing.
Thankfully, our local Sinclair still offers ethanol free fuel in both regular and premium.

What high compression/performance vehicle are you driving? Most people are throwing their money away running Premium. I run it in my KTM 300's and my RMK 800, but I really do not burn much gas in those machines. And when I use 85 0r 87 octane, I cannot tell the difference. One bike is stock and the other is cylinder decked and head shaved for more torque over HP though.

Gas just isn't nearly as pure as it used to be. I got that tidbit from a Ducati shop owner of 40 years who was one of the top Ducati mechanics in the country. Used to work with him in az.

It's possible. He was the biggest asshole ever. He promised me commission and never paid it, even when I sold a $75k desmosedici. Also wouldn't let us take lunch breaks. I took up smoking just to get away from the guy a few minutes per day.

When I spill gas it just evaporates. Guroo, are you putting chocolate milk in your tank?
Oh, shit! It does say whole lactaid. I thought it said whole octane! Gd.

Really wish they'd stop using terms like "supreme" and "premium" for gas. Can't even count the number of time I've had to try and explain how octane works and try to convince people that they shouldn't be putting 91 in their car built for 87. 90% of the time they won't believe me, either.
It's fine that they use high-octane gas in their cars that don't need it because it keeps demand and production up and keeps it somewhat reasonable for me, who does need it.
The problem is that they're putting a ton of unburned gas into the air (which is why CA has 91 instead of 93, to cut down on excess emissions from morons putting it in their 87 engines) and they're killing efficiency, which means less gas available overall for everybody. It's also part of why our engines aren't tuned optimally, and why you can get such a major gain out of remapping an ECU, since stock engine maps have to account for the wrong grade of gas being used, while an aftermarket one doesn't have to worry about that since the user is obviously going to know what they're doing.
I typically fill up at Shell gas stations. Over about a two month period a few years ago I noticed Shell gas gave me slightly better gas mileage(85 octane). I also just recently got in to go kart racing(125cc two stroke motor), the racing community for the most part agrees if you are not using something like VP racing fuel then Shell 91octane is really the only pump fuel to use. Other 91 octane pump fuels have resulted engine damage. Ethanol is one of the major cause of problems for the kart engines.
I put premium in my snow blower/weedertater/lawnmower cuz that stuff has to start and I use a couple of jerry cans a year
the truck is gona run fine on RUG
Yeah, if I drove a Honda civic I'd run 80 octane if it was available, but with the Turbo the minimum is 91 and they only sell 93 or 89 here.
Thanks to that pure gas website I found Ben Little's Marathon 4 miles from the house. Evidently it's a great service station, too.

I used to run a Chevron station and my fuel came from a Tesoro refinery, the Chevron additives were added as the truck was being filled.
I've made several hundred trips to Baker in my Subaru that now has 400,000 miles, If I filled my car with 91 octane I'd use 7.5 gallons on the 225 mile roiund trip. If I used 87 octane I'd use 9.5 gallons, If I used 87 with alcohol I'd use 10.5 gallons. This was every trip, same roads, same traffic, So in my experience I'd say I got better milage using premium fuel.
