In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...
I -was- on the recommended line. For the most part I was very happy with it. Most of the ski I felt was in the tips, and the payoff came with getting forward and aggressive and driving them. No lazy skiing allowed. That said, I'm not always on my game, and would've liked to have been able to get away with lazy skiing every once in a while. Maybe +1/2 if I could do it over? Dunno if that would make things better or not. I don't see it compromising float, seemed like they had lots to spare.
pfluffen - 104 from the tip, not the tail. Hang the tape latch over the center of the tip, pull it back straight, no bends, drop it to the topsheet. We pull it from the tip because the metal in the tip and tail is hand finished on a sander and a polisher. It's a detailed-oriented craftsmanship thing. We pay a bit more attention to the tip than the tails, which often get ground down on the sander and stone and have to be sanded to meet minimum metal thickness and therefore can vary more. We really focus on the tips being finished uniformly as possible by hand to eye sculpting (that's what I call it) and that makes it a better place to pull from.
