Commercial Electrician With a Background in Documentation and IT For Hire

Word came down Friday afternoon that our contract is not being renewed and Nov. 30th is my company's last day on the job, so I and my coworkers have one month to find a new job as our company has no other positions available that we can move to.

I'm currently working as a critical facilities technician, primarily responsible for developing and implementing maintenance procedures for the electrical systems that support the critical load (a server farm) at this site, including Diesel Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supplies (DRUPS), Medium voltage (12.47 kV) switchgear, low voltage (480v and below) transformers and electrical panels, PDUs, Rectifiers, lighting and general power distribution. I'm also responsible for coordinating maintenance and repairs on our site's fire alarm system which consists of a VESDA system in the server room, heat and smoke detectors in the occupied spaces and a double interlock pre-action sprinkler system and have also been trained on our site's evaporative cooling air handler units, VFD controllers, and Building Monitoring System.

In addition I have five years experience in the construction industry in both commercial and residential new construction and remodeling and over ten years experience in the software industry in various roles ranging from technical support to network administration to quality assurance engineer.

I have a degree in technical writing from the University of Washington, Washington State 01 commercial electrician's license, level I IR thermography certificate, and CPR/AED/BBP certifications.

I would like to find work as a field service electrician/technician, facilities technician, inside wireman, generator technician, or any position that can utilize someone with a background in documentation and/or IT and a high level of mechanical and electrical skills.

Currently I'm focusing my job search in Western Washington as I'd prefer to stay here, but if the right opportunity came up elsewhere I'd certainly be interested.

Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee is looking for an electrician with high voltage and emergency power generation skills, but while we are very close to skiing we are no where near western WA. I moved from there and I like it here better, but YMMV.

If you'd like to move to utah my new company is looking for someone with basically your exact qualifications. Don't know if they can match salary or whatever but you might be able to commute from where you are now as we have other employees that do just that. We are a controls company. Based in NY with work in AZ, NV, and UT currently with a potential new gig in Canadia. eBay and their data enters are our main client. We are implementing OSI pi system. Hit me with a pm and or resume if interested.

Thanks for the responses guys! I kind of forgot about this thread since it didn't get much action at first.

Skidog - got your PM and will respond in a moment.

I've had two good interviews this week and the one company I'd really like to work for called me last night and said to come by their offices today to pick up an offer letter. I'm expecting an offer from the other company tomorrow, so looks like I'll be back to work real soon.

Thanks again, and good luck to everyone else who's looking.
