Quick MTB video edit from Crested Butte

I'm really trying to develop some video shooting and editing skills as winter approaches. Any feed back on my most recent attempt would be awesome. No cheesy timelapse or dripping coffee in this one (all sins I'm guilty of in other videos).

School me, tell me what I can do better. Kidwoo...

And yea, all riding is mellow, but the video is real short.

ETA: I did a second edit, which is a few posts down, check that out, I think its a bit better.

I like your regular footage MUCH better than the POV stuff. The wheel POV stuff is somewhat different, but it's kind of nauseous watching it. Stick to the standard footage and come up with some different angles and wider/tighter shots- you obviously have a ton to work with in CB. I think it would be OK to have a clip or two of POV footage, but not as much as you inserted.

Otherwise, it's a nice mellow video, I like it.

Yea, even the chest mount is pretty lame. All the footage is GoPro but the shots with it off the body seem to work way better.

I shot some more today but none off the bike. Mostly throw away footage I think. Kind of a bummer because it was a fun trail.

Did a second edit, I like it a bit more. Cut the crappy title and the first clip, added another clip. Its :05 shorter now.

Needs a coffee drip and sunrise timelapse.

Seriously though, I've always found MTBing tough for both photo and video, it's hard to convey the effort and fun. I really liked the wheel shot, I'm going to have to figure out how to steal it. Overall pretty decent.

I agree with this 100%. Putting together a good MTB movie or image takes time, and 95% of the shots I have in my head look boring when I get them on the screen. A guy could be zipping by at 20mph on singletrack, but when you shoot at 1/2000s, he could be going 2mph for all we know. I've temporarily given up trying to get good shots when I ride- I'd rather just have fun when I bike, anyways.

I'm using an iMac with 20GB of RAM and premiere pro 6. I did actually try to improve the color on a few of those shots, believe it or not. It was also my first attempt at color correction for video, so I really didn't have much idea what I was doing, beyond what I could extrapolate from my photo editing experience. So, any advice, I'll take it. The shots I corrected were: riding towards the camera along the river, away from the camera along the river, and at the end, the rear view shot. Those shots were totally dark or blown out originally. I'm going to play with ProTune and see what I can get soon.

Here are some pictures of the set up for the wheel shot. I did have an extra extender arm in there, but I just wanted some quick snapshots so you guys could get a general feel for the location.
