When I read lph’s post last night I went to sleep thinking about how rad the snow will be this weekend if it holds true…a bunch of wet snow followed by clearing and cold temps = concrete.

But now I wake up to steady rain in the foothills…maybe there is still hope after all.

What’s the word up the hill…any new snow coming down?
    so many mountains...so little time

no, there is no new snow in south lake and it is not snowing now.

although my driveway (which i failed to clear from the last storm) is indeed concrete this morning.

Calm down boys and quit yer fucking whining....maybe Sunday is the day.....

RAIN AND SNOW EXPECTED FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OVER THE PRESIDENTS
    DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND..

THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN SPINNING OFF THE CENTRAL
CALIFORNIA COAST FOR THE LAST WEEK WILL FINALLY MOVE INLAND THROUGH
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OVER THE PRESIDENTS DAY WEEKEND. AS IT
DOES...SEVERAL PERIODS OF RAIN AND SNOW WILL HIT THE NORTH STATE WITH
SOME PERIODS OF HEAVY PRECIPITATION LIKELY. A BAND OF FAIRLY LIGHT
PRECIPITATION WILL MOVE FROM SOUTH TO NORTH THROUGH NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA TODAY. UP TO A HALF INCH OF RAIN A FEW INCHES OF SNOW ARE
POSSIBLE OVER THE NORTHERN SIERRA TODAY AND THIS EVENING. THIS BAND
OF RAIN AND SNOW WILL MOSTLY BREAK APART BEFORE REACHING THE NORTHERN
MOUNTAINS SO LIGHTER AMOUNTS OF RAIN AND SNOW ARE EXPECTED THERE.
LIGHTER AND MORE SHOWERY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED SATURDAY BUT THE
RAIN AND SNOW WILL INCREASE AGAIN ON SATURDAY NIGHT AS THE MAIN LOW
FINALLY BEGINS TO SHIFT INLAND. LOWER SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED ON
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY THANKS TO A NEW COLDER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
DROPPING DOWN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST.
SNOW LEVELS SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY WILL DROP DOWN TO AROUND 4000
FEET OVER ALL OF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MOUNTAINS. BETWEEN SATURDAY
NIGHT AND SUNDAY...AS MUCH AS ONE TO TWO FEET OF NEW SNOW CAN BE
    EXPECTED.
AT THE LOWER ELEVATIONS...PERIODS OF RAIN ARE LIKELY.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN THE NORTHERN SACRAMENTO VALLEY COULD TOTAL AN
INCH AND A HALF BY SUNDAY NIGHT WITH A HALF INCH OR MORE POSSIBLE IN
THE SACRAMENTO AREA AND SOUTHWARD INTO THE NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN
    VALLEY.

BY PRESIDENTS DAY MONDAY...A NEW LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL FORM OFF
THE CENTRAL COAST OF CALIFORNIA AND IS EXPECTED TO BRING RAIN AND
SNOW TO NEARLY THE ENTIRE STATE ON MONDAY. AT THIS TIME...THE
HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO FALL OVER THE SOUTHERN HALF OF
THE STATE BUT MODERATE AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION ARE STILL POSSIBLE
    FARTHER NORTH.

RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SHOULD BE PREPARED
FOR A WET PRESIDENTS DAY WEEKEND. MOTORISTS TRAVELING IN THE
MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS AT ANY
TIME THROUGH THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND...BE SURE AND CARRY EMERGENCY
SUPPLIES AND TIRE CHAINS AND CHECK THE LATEST ROAD AND WEATHER
    REPORTS BEFORE DEPARTING.

just curious... where did you get that weather report? all the sites i've been looking at (accuweather.com, noaa.gov) etc. don't have anything on that? last night they did, but not now....

Click on the advisory link to the right of the map. Check the advisory and Special Weather Statement.
