    Maybe FS/FT: Glidecam HD-2000

(I'll dig this up and shoot some pics if anybody is seriously interested in it.)

I have a beat up, but as far as I can tell functional, Glidecam HD-2000 with a Manfrotto RC4 quick release base on it.

Here's the deal - I found this thing in the dirt in the press parking lot at the end of the last day at a motorsports event I worked last year. There was a dude's name and a damaged phone number on it. I googled the dude, whose website had no contact info on it, and an email to one publication he was listed as working for turned up nothing. I reported it to the press department, posted on forums, did everything, with no luck.

So I've got this thing sitting around. I took it apart a while back to clean it out and haven't put it back together. It's pretty well-used, but the adjustments all seem to work, and the gimbal swivels and spins freely and the whole thing seems to balance well. My guess is that it's balanced for a 5D. I don't have an RC4 plate around so I haven't been able to try it, but I don't have an appropriate camera for it anyway. (Since I use a full-size body.)

I don't really do video, so I don't have much of a use for it. I thought maybe somebody on TGR would be interested in it, maybe even in trading for it. I don't really have a price in mind so I'm open to offers. These are about $500 new for what it's worth. I shoot Nikon Full Frame, but there's probably not much that I need that's in a similar value range to this thing. I'll also consider ski gear offers - I ski between 170-180 and wear Large soft gear.

I'm interested. I have some 2 pairs of nice oakley ski pants and a Large Orage insulated ski jacket. I also have bindings that I could trade; Marker Dukes or older Rossi/Look pivots. I am interested though. I have no Nikon gear unfortunately. Any skis I'd have to trade are longer than what you are looking for.

Dukes might actually be worthwhile if they're the right size for my boots, I'll think about that. How much longer are the skis you've got? If they're up in the 190s that's probably overkill but I've honestly been skiing pretty traditional all-mountain groomer-oriented skis for the past few years, and I do get the impression that maybe I should be skiing something a bit longer when it comes to the more modern twin-tip rockered powder-biased kind of skis, since I see people in my height/weight range skiing more like a 180-something.

Anyway, I'll dig the rig up and get some pics of it in the next couple days so everybody can see what it actually looks like and all that.

How bout I trade you some 183 black gotamas for the steadicam, give my non HD version to dfinn, and I won't tell you how many dead babies I found in his basement once.

seriously......don't support someone who keeps dead babies in his basement

Word on twitter is that he also kicks puppies.

I'm also in tahoe. Whereas dfinn lives in cult ridden, polygamous utah. Explains the babies eh?

Oh crap, I said dukes but I meant Jesters. All my skis are 190+ and not really in the all mountain/carver category so I'm not sure that would work out so well.

Apparently I've also got a couple of sister wives I could trade away.

I'm looking for a wider ski than the carvers I've been on, typical "one ski quiver" type ski would be cool, but 190+ is definitely gonna be too much for me to handle.

Are those the '06 Goats? No bindings, right? That might be worth thinking about, I'd have to figure out what I'd do for binders and whether I could mount for my boots, though.

Correct. I hoarded like 3 pairs of those things when they changed the shape. They've been drilled for dynafits and some tele binding pattern that won't get in your way.
