    I’m on call tomorrow at the hospital and I already got called in, so tomorrow will be an early hiking lap and one or two chair rides before I go in.

    168 up to China Peak had another big rockslide yesterday

    they’ve been on a 5 day per week schedule all season - Thu Fri Sat Sun Mon






    DR opening late

    1 and 3 around 9
    6 and 7 around noon
    no Chair 8 today

    there are several reasons




    the place is a fucking mess

    lift maintenance is a joke

    they do not have a full compliment of qualified blasters working on patrol

    poor leadership

    you can’t run a ski area in Central California from a golf course in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

    Having to replace Polar’s transformer on Thursday, after getting cat-crushed on Wednesday night, didn’t help either.
    They had the chairs spinning in the afternoon. Massive effort by PG&E.

    Bear is saving the powder for Wednesday. I want to gripe, but hear the road was closed, and someone hit a Caltrans plow, and the employee bus crashed. And it snowed for a week and a half. Maybe they deserve a break. Maybe. For sure they're not going to get an entry in the "best resort for storm skiing" thread.

    Love this thread. Had a pass to China Peak (then Sierra Summit) back in 2000-01 when I lived in Lemoore! Had a blast skiing up there and staying at a little resort on Huntington Lake where people pulled up to the restaurant/bar in snow machines.
