Stepping Up - A Guide to The Ridge at Bridger Bowl

The time has finally come. I can now officially announce the project that has been under wraps for years. MT and I are publishing a book entitled: Stepping Up – A Guide to The Ridge at Bridger Bowl

Here are some of the highlights:

    - 100 page account of the lines off The Ridge
    - Foreword by Scot Schmidt
    - Closing by Dr. Robb Gaffney
    - Interview with Tom Jungst
    - 75 photos, including aerial shot of with marked up possible descents. As well as shots of Jim Conway, Tom Jungst, Scot Schmidt and many others.

The book could not have been possible without the help of many. Quite a few maggots have chipped in big time, I feel very lucky to have their help, it would not have been possible without them. To name a few: fez – building our website as speak, MountainMan – encouraging us all the way, basewelder – providing endless knowledge about The Ridge, slip – supplying photos and connections in the industry, oldtimer – kicking us in the ass to get this out there & providing more industry contacts, splat - helping us out with photo/skier legal issues and possibly helping us market this on pmgearusa.com. The list goes on.

I cannot begin to tell you how stoked I am on how the ski community comes together. Everyone who we talked to was very supportive and willing to help wherever they could. And we needed all the help we could get. Scot Schmidt and Robb Gaffney were unbelieveable. I would have never thought that lowly maggots like ourselves could get buyin from the pros. Neither of us have ever done this sort of thing. It turned out to be a huge learning experience.

I hope you all will find the book interesting. Pick up a copy when it comes out!

    Thumbs up

I'm glad to hear this got off the ground! When you were in Cleveland a few years back, I remember you talked about it as sort of a "I might be..." project. Congrats to both of you!

Nice! As far as I know, Sam is definitely one of the locals at Bridger and knows what he's talking about.

Why is this hidden in Music, Books and Movies. LB puts his book crap in the main folder why dont you guys? BTW I have heard that Sam is not only an "ok" skier, but I heard he can drink pretty good. Any truth to that

Got my copy in the mail today! Order yours, it's worth it. Even if you don't ski Bridger, order it for the pictures and info. And if you don't ski, still order one and put in on your coffee table so that all your friends think you are cool and the girls that you are hardcore.

    Tavis,
Love the book- well written and some great pics. It brought back lots of good memories (and some bad ones like accidentally heading into 6th grade when I didn't know any better). I thought I was familiar with most of the runs, but that obviously wasn't the case. Your also right about the name thing- our name for Elfstone was "Super Slot". Can't wait to get back up there next year. -Dave
