I heard there's a team of volunteers... and there's been talk of some hidden webcams, but I'm not sure where. Ridiculous... it's not like anyone else is ever out there at night anyway.

A new bike trail is going in at Carnelian Bay. Trees are being felled, berms created and gap jumps installed.

And whoever is creating this trail on U.S. Forest Service property could wind up in jail and having to pay a fine.

“When we have to obliterate unauthorized trails, it takes crews away from building other projects,” Cheva Heck, USFS spokeswoman, told Lake Tahoe News.

This is one of a few trails that has been discovered this summer in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Others are near Tahoma and Cave Rock. The Carnelian Bay trail is the most destructive because trees have been cut down. It was about a half mile long when crews discovered it.

While the feds don’t have any suspects at this time, surveillance has been set up.

“I would rather have the Forest Service spend its limited trail budget on new trails than destroying illegal trials that are perhaps causing resource damage,” Kevin Joell, president of Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association, told

We were talking about Marin county, but that's pretty crazy. Building some berms and gap jumps is one thing, actually cutting down trees to clear space takes some real balls.

    nahh, just a chainsaw.
not that it makes it ok, but if they cut down trees for space that's a forest that needs trees cut down.

I do not even believe they were falling tree's . I saw one picture of a dead fall tree that was sectioned out.

Keeping mind that this area is very overgrown and the
USFS has been in there cutting tree's and creating stacks of wood and brush for BURN Season Fuels reduction program.

Not sure what to think but. its registered on my WOW meter. And the reference to USFS private land.
the mindset about the Government and Citizens and Public land is getting very real

I figured this may get some more traction here, but in hopes of securing adequate lodging for the upcoming season I posted the following in Hook Up...looking to get in on a SLT/Kirkwood ski lease for this upcoming season.

Probably early but hell, I'm anxious.

Might be able to hook you up with a house in South Lake. The ones at Kwood are usually significantly more expensive, with significantly less room. Typically around $1000 for the season in SLT, and $1500-$2000 for the season at Kwood. Shoot me a PM and I can keep you in the loop for the SLT houses.

the proposed plans are so absurd i basically feel embarrassed right now.

if you're against things that suck, please take the time to take the survey...

i'm really shocked they have the audacity to even reveal such ridiculous plans.

I bet they cut down a few pecker poles that needed to be thinned out anyway. No one building a bike trail is falling big trees. There'd be no reason to. With the gross amount of useless destruction the forest service causes on fires and other projects, searching out and fining the builders of a bike trail is hipocrisy. The only reason they want this stopped is because it's not gov't sanctioned and they didn't ask for permission. Anything they say about "resource damage" and the trail being "dangerous" is pure bullshit. They just don't like people doing what they want or for free. If it's community accepted then the F.S. should have no say.

Has anyone else read this article, there are other articles about the same subject.

1,200 year old Standing tree's in the bottom of Fallen Leaf Lake. The ramifications of this are very big in my humble opinion. The Man Made Climate change crowd does not like him much
It is the age of mega — megafires, megastorms, and megadroughts lasting hundreds of years, the signs of which are evident worldwide, including in Tahoe over the past 6,000 years. Some of those signs are in Fallen Leaf Lake, where University of Nevada, Reno Professor Emeritus John Kleppe has spent years investigating whether the lake he calls home could unlock the question of whether we are on the cusp of another megadrought. If so, water managers say they have not been preparing for it.

Megadroughts are multi-year droughts that last two decades or more. The historical record is littered with examples of these long periods of parched conditions, and historians suspect that megadroughts contributed to the collapse of numerous ancient civilizations, including the Anasazi in the American Southwest, the Khmer Empire in Cambodia, and the Mayan and Aztec of Mesoamerica.

Fallen Leaf Lake on the south side of Lake Tahoe has recorded the Sierra Nevada’s history of megadroughts with remarkable accuracy because the lake’s dramatic fluctuations have allowed ancient forests to grow during long dry spells, and then be submerged by a resurgent lake.

That's what I thought originally, but now I think they're actually serious. Fucking capital investment bankers - why not just create some other bullshit derivative scam like usual and leave the ski resorts out of it?

Probably wouldn't show much at 10:18PM--dark. Yesterday you could see a bright white spot with the smoke plume going north and northwest. Not seeing much today--just a wisp. Hope that's a good sign.

    OK so...

A maggot friend offered me his house for me and Krystal and Owen for nothing. He can't fit my hole fam damly in his spot. He also gave me a line on a couple pads nearby. I really appreciate the offer, but we scored something else. I'll be in touch.

Another guy here offered his house in SV for $7,000 for 5 nights. Sorry but no.

A friend rented me his house in TD for $700.

Sorry, but $7K for 5 nights?....
