I tried to post this on their facebook page but either i have been banned or the comment to which I was replying has been deleted. This was after talking with the Amador District of the FS.

They don't have any authority to stop us from skiing the cirque, or anywhere on FS land. They do however, have the authority to keep us from entering the FS through their private land, and the authority to keep us from parking on their land.
I find it interesting that my post was deleted and posts filled with expletive (FuckVail, etc.) were left up. Perhaps since mine mentioned the Bobby Brown crap.
Nevermind I see I am now banned from posting on their Facebook. I will be skiing there tomorrow though.

that seems about right in context with what i've long been told about hiking Sugar Bowl: as long as you enter from the PCT behind the Sugar Bowl Academy and then drop down off of the ridge line of Mt. Judah you should be good. You just can't park in their lot. Of course this means a wee bit of a slog out...

So, guess you're gonna be hiking in from Silver Lake, eh? Or around Caples?

God damn it Dookey did not mention any laps with G2A at Rose.

There was a battle for last chair on the Slide side. About 25 people were lined up for last chair and patrol finally said "get on or we will shut the lift down and nobody gets last chair..." Everyone one else got on then after that, myself, Kevbot and another friend took last chair honors, followed only by a patroller and his GF.

The Chutes should be pretty skiable for another week or two...

Heh...just checked their FB page and all the negative comments are gone.

Kirkwood Real Estate still owns most of the land as far as I know.

In any case, I'm going to wait to see before I head for my Cirque mission.

FWIW, "Poop Chute" is still holding, but not for much longer.
The bowl on the East Side of Judah ridge is still looking nice (facing down toward Donner Lake), and the little pitch underneath the drive-in movie theater screens on SB's border still looks good for 10 turns of corn.

Ran into a dude starting his approach to the aforementioned last Thursday when I was driving by on a recon. he pinged me on Sat to say that the snow was decent, but going fast.

You sure about that for SB? I've parked in the Judah lot several times in recent years after closing with no problems - even chatted with employees.

I have 2 Alpine vouchers that someone could use for closing weekend, thinking $20 each. PM me your address and I can get them out to you tomorrow. I fractured C-7 vertebra, tore 2 tendons in my left shoulder and have a bulging disk from a mtb crash so ended up canceling last weekends trip.

    Holy shitballs Batman!

I will throw in one Alpine voucher for free for anyone buying 406's. Mine was donated to me by Sinecure. I can't justify another trip to Alpine this weekend with Sonora Pass opening.

If I were to say, then they would know where to put the snipers.

Yes, they did it under the reasoning of not getting in the way of pre-season operations - which they have the right to do as part of their USFS agreement - but it was clearly in response to her death (they shut down access the next day). Hopefully they'll allow post-season access, though.

From what I was told on Sun. is that they don't want people hiking & potentially being in any video shots during the whole BB jump thing. It's supposedly going down sun or mon this next week.

Had a great day @ the wood riding in a one piece that was wayyyyyyyy to small. I had mantoe all day.

Sounds like a Carson to Kookwood tour is in order!

Wouldn't be a lot easier if they just said that? What about the homeowners who have a place there? 'I'm sorry sir, you can't go for a hike from your house until July 6th when we start summer operations?' But you can hike from the highway? OF course, this isn't a massive issue but there is a group of us every year that likes to hike up to the Cirque and ski it legally. Its just a fun thing we like to do.

The best part is that as soon as Kirkwood closes and until they reopen for skiing, its a ghost town. You may have at most 3 people actually hiking to ski...on a Saturday during the post season. I agree that there are better areas to ski in the BC, but access from your car at 7800ft to north facing slopes, bathrooms, a general store to buy your snacks/drinks, makes it all a nice quick mission.

Was on elephants back on Sat and toured around Moon Crescent. All was still looking good back in there. Moon Crescent still looks good right now.

Rose on Sunday to close it down. Pretty damn good skiing in there all day long, though didnt get there till 12:00.

Dookey - were you part of the group that had a guy on some wagners and another guy had some Jeronimos?

Hopefully people arent getting too much crap from the Resorts on late skiing touring.

Go get em and be safe. I still think one more storm is gonna come along at some point when everything closes down.

This. My friends are homeowners and most of the rare hiking they do is from the parking lot. I enjoy getting a few laps in and having beers and bbq for lunch with the family. Especially after we get a post season wet storm and the Wall turns to perfect corn. I also enjoy the number of times I have been skunked kicking the cirque due to wind/cold/visibility/lack of snow... There is still a challenge in actually scoring it.

Alas, these days may be gone. Unless there is zero visibility.

Very reasonable solution. Hell, four days might even allow the corn to do some work to smooth things out a touch up on Palmayra.

Spring stoke...almost in Tahoe...maybe belongs in the kid stoke thread...except my kid is 23. This is G2A Jr at the Sierra Buttes last weekend. We lived there for 18 years, but it's his first time skiing them.

    Hey Mike,
Can I hit you up for that voucher please?
Going on Saturday (BayAreaSkiBus, $89 or $59 Bus Only) I'd need it by Friday...Unless it's promised already.

How about for Free? Help your fellow Maggots? Last weekend, right?

I can prolly hook you up with some coffee or tea as a thank-you.
PM'ing my addy in case you wanna "pay it forward".

Had a great time at KW over the weekend. Kept seeing SuPu all over the place, but mostly in The Fingers. Bumped into LegoSkier on Sunday. Surprised more peeps weren't traversing to Waterfall from 11.
Chamoix was our last run, headed over to Sentinel to watch the peeps lined up on Jim's air it out at the end.
But got fed up waiting for them to drop after seeing 2 snowboarders tomahawk, so headed down.
    Bye bye KrackWeed

2 of the 6 features are finished now with the remaining 4 needing to be shaped there could be more i guess but they were down to the flats. i had a feeling that's why they were closing off the hiking. it really makes it hard to not want to throw a party there then.

the view from highway 88. here there are three cats working. they were parked the entire time i was there.

nacho practicing for when the jumps are finished

i'm thinking about going back tomorrow or the next day without nacho. made about 5 turns down carnells before I got a little spooked with the dog. facing forward he couldn't stop himself and kept building up little wet slides in front of him.
