Heres to hoping i can get a few more days of lift access when i get back from thailand mid may, if not there will always be shastafari. Hope everyone has a happy corn season and that it isnt all harvested by the time i get home!

Question: with 10 closed, is the cirque fair game? Does it still hold snow?

divegirl and I will be at Alpine tomorrow and Kirkwood Sunday for the closing day. Will have baby in tow so will be trading off watch duties. Would be good to ski with some mags if any are around.

PD, you were most friendly considering I had just invaded your pow stash and skinned over your boot pack.

I'm thinking of going with the same plan. I'll watch the baby a bit so you can take a few runs together if you want.

On behalf of the entire Mammoth Mountain family, I'd like to say we miss you! Our records show that you haven't been here in a while, but it is not too late to get your snow fix in! While other mountains are closing, Mammoth Mountain will stay open through Memorial Day weekend*. That's seven weeks - plenty of time to ski or ride. Snow, sun-what more could you ask for?

How about 3 days of your choice on the mountain for only $147? That's only $49 dollars a day !

This deal is good for any day during the rest of this season- whether you come for a 3 day weekend or come 3 different days. But you must purchase before April 21, 2013!

    Just follow these simple steps:
    1. Act now! Purchase your tickets online or call 1-800-504-7412 before April 21, 2013
    2. Choose any 3 dates you want to visit Mammoth.

    Saturday at Alpine Meadows

    from http://unofficialalpine.com/

The premier North Tahoe ski and snowboard freestyle ski and snowboard contest is back for another year at Alpine Meadows. The TRAiNS event is primarily sponsored by the local non-profit group, High Fives and Volkl Skis. There’s a number of other companies, large and small that have jumped on board to support the event as well.

Thirty “world class athletes” will compete as teams of 4 in what essentially is a team big air competition. Although a lot of big name athletes are invited to compete – we often end up with a better show put on by local pros. The past few years of competition have been dominated by Alpine Meadows ski coaches, park staff and members and alumni of the Alpine Meadows freestyle team.

According to High Fives, the goal for this year is to return to the simple roots of the event and focus less on spinny flippy tricks that leave most of the crowd saying, “What was that?” The contest originally was based on the categories of the best 540 and the best “high five”. Judges will also be looking for the best switch trick and backflip. If you’re wondering about the name of the event, each run consists of a train of four riders hitting the jump rapid fire. For the final round, all riders join for one big spectacular train.

Each team’s winnings are donated to the charity of their choice, with athletes taking home only clothing and gear from event sponsors. There’s a lot of food and merchandise available, and many of those merchants donate large portions of their proceeds from the event to High Fives. There’s a great BBQ put together by the people from the Full Belly Deli. If you have ever wanted to customize a Big Truck hat, they will be doing an SOS (Sew On Site) sale at the event.

For the last several years, the venue for TRAiNS has been at the bottom jump of the Dance Floor park, with a spectator arena set up on Gunner’s Knob. As of last weekend, that venue was looking pretty thin. One would assume that massive amounts of snow farming was done while slopes were closed this week. The Alpine Meadows grooming and park staff has been making miracles happen all season with very little snow…pretty sure they will make it happen.

Riddle me this, Batman….The TRAiNS event is scheduled from 11-4 pm on Saturday. That does not quite match up with Alpine Meadows operations schedule for the weekend. Lifts are set to roll this Friday through Sunday from 9am until 2pm.

The weather should be amazing for the weekend. Saturday’s forecast at Alpine calls for a sunny day with a high temperature of 53°. Alpine Meadows is expected to roll Roundhouse and Summit this weekend and Hot Wheels, conditions permitting. We meant to tell you earlier:

Reload and 3 Day Pre-purchase Adult tickets are down to $39 for the next two weekends.
Passholders from other mountains can buy tickets for $35.
Squalpine passholders can buy friends and family tickets for $35
Employees from other mountains can buy tickets for $19

Mere mortals can afford a day ticket at Alpine meadows at this time of year. See ya there!

Since Kirkwood is only spinning 6 and Mt. Rose is offering $29 tickets to passholders at other resorts, I'll be helping closing Mt. Rose on Sunday. See you there!

(Note: to get the $29 deal you have to buy the ticket beforehand on their web site.)

I'll be at Rose Saturday and Sunday with plenty of beer, probably riding with Corky and perhaps RacoonFace. Duct-taped orange pants, green helmet, and moment pb&js. Give me a yell if you see me.

I'm going to guess it will look like July, 2011 by May, 2013. Thanks for the beta pic further above. Can't make the 22nd, but I am trying to figure out how to get up for a day next weekend. The Mrs. is chaperoning prom Sat night, so not sure if it will work out. She'll probably be all hung over on Sunday, leaving me in charge of little guy.

Have fun closing up Rose/KW folks. At best I'll be getting a surf in on Sunday. And in case any of ya'll are wondering there is no snow at the top of the Palm Springs tram this year. None. Although San Gorgonio has a touch bit up top.

Earlier does sound better. Doubtful my wife will call in sick to work so I can ski.

Edit: Just mentioned it to her, and I'd say is is more than doubtful based on her non verbal reply.

This is from about 12 days ago.

AM was good today. Again tomorrow. Ran into a race kid I know who needs a ride, so no KW for me. Probably better to avoid closing day shitshow. Fisticuffs 2 years ago...

Has anyone seen or skied Babycham recently? I'd like to hit it tomorrow if it still goes.
