I was told the lot was not yet ready at 8:50. The parking czar directed me towards the "VIP lot", which is further from the lift and muddy. Funny, eh. Apparently the lot was plowed at 8:45 and he had to get things set up before he could allow parking. Guess it took over 25 minutes. Must be a challenge to get the lot ready for the 20 or so cars that were around yesterday.

Skied both the Heave and KW yesterday and I gotta say the Heave wins, hands down. For starters they had the top of the hill open. KW was running 1,5,7,11. Off piste was frozen tundra and on piste was almost thawed cord. But not really thawed. It was alright. At the Heave there was slightly tracked powder just OB, with wind whipped cream cheese pow in several spots inbounds and nice creamy groomers. And if you were willing to engage in the most fun skinning I have experienced this season, you could find untracked pow heading down toward the lake. And do any of you know how great the view is from that place?

Found this on the site but why even have it there if they have to follow it up with Please note this table is a guide only, all pricing is subject to change without notice due to snow, weather and other factors.

    12/13 Lift Ticket Pricing

    Midweek Weekend/Holiday AdvancePEAKS* WindowPEAKS
    Adult (19-64) $79 $89 $60/$76 $69/$79
    Teen (13-18) $66 $76 $50/$66 $56/$66
    Child (5-12) $56 $60 $35/$46 $46/$50
    Senior (65+) $66 $76 $50/$66 $56/$66

The only thing I would count on is it not costing less than this helpful guide

Peaks is some rewards program they have

Fuck i can't stand this corp but it is what it is

That said - be there Tomorrow and Sunday

Anyone notice the temporary speed bumps near TC Saturday morning only to be removed in the afternoon. Why have them at all if there removed in the afternoon?

THANKS FOR CALLLLLLING KIRKWOOD!!!! If you thought that place was a shitshow when I was around then what do you think of your overlords now?

I invite all KW to head over to China Peak, where our plan is to plan to reopen our closed resort if we get another dump. We won't kick you out of parking lots, we'll let you dirtbags sleep in RVs and don't scan passes at each and every chairlift ride.

Thanks for calling China Peak! Call the report at 559-233-3330 to hear about our plans, or if you Kirkwood skiers miss the sound of my voice and want to hear it. You know you want to. Thanks for Callling.

It is for snow preservation. Slows access to the lifts to keep the powder fresh. Not really needed in the afternoons.

Is there anything high enough elevation in monitor pass area to be worth skiing? From my google earth investigation looks like everything tops out around 9k?

Mrs. Vets and I took our dogs for a walk near Monitor Pass this evening. There are many fun lines to ski there on a good snow year. However, this year hasn't been that good up there. There are still a few relatively short lines that are skiable even though conditions aren't optimal. I might head up one of these afternoons/evenings for a little dusk patrol since the pass is only about half an hour from home.

    No Saturday Sierra bus
But now The Bus is going to KW on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14!

Thank You Mike. But not neccesary now.
(Is Krystal Kartwright well enough for you & Owen to come up? Concussions can be tricky, as you prolly know.)

I expect we'll ride the bus up & down, but might have a place to stay at Base Camp on Sat night if TiniDakini's friend comes through.

    So, Sugarbowl yesterday:
Riding off Disney, noticed these ribbons of white here & there, left over from the last wind event. They were cool to ski, wind-packed that flew up in minature slabs as you made your turn.

But that was in the morning. For the rest of the day the stretches of white snow were hella sticky & tricky and to be avoided.
The older, "grey & knobbly" stuff skied well.

Headed to Lincoln, closed under the lift...but on my 2nd ride up, saw a 'troller opening it, so ducked in there. Lets cut a long story short, and say the best skiing was down Silver Belt (the drop in was fab!) to the rope, then head skiers left way over by the boundary, where there was a shaded steep little chute with an icefall on the left. Had been icy, but was now perfect sugary goodness, with a funky soft run out that gave us big ol' pinwheels. Really fun, although I fell and lost my ski the 1st time in

Ended up with East Face of Lincoln to Roller Pass trees which was sugar then corn, so no complaints...well except for the sticky flat bit...
Getting back to the lifts each time was the most sticky.

    Go Skiing Y'all!!!!!

Any Maggots going to be at KW Saturday? Due to her recent head injury, Krystal Kartwright will not be traveling with Owen and I this weekend. I might need some help with him for the banked slalom. He's only 6, so we like to have one of us at the start of races and one at the finish - you can't be two places at once. If there are coaches there, we can send him up with them and then watch him race and meet him at the bottom. Not sure how it will work this weekend. I don't feel like I can just send him to the start solo, and I'd like to have someone meet him at the finish. Come be part of Team Owen!

Turx - looks like we posted simultaneously - scruffy skittles!

Do you need free lift tickets? Don't forget your food stamps for the general store. Oh, and I hear there's free skis in the dumpster behind the Battered Beaver.

Maybe if you clean the windshield of my G55 AMG parked in the VIP spot by chair 6 I'll throw you a 5-spot so your kid can eat, and then i'll think twice before kicking your ass.

I'm not really interested in an intertoob squabble with you or anyone else.

Also not interested in bad vibes on the hill.

If you are looking for a fight, you've got the wrong guy. Stay out of my face.
