It snowed enough to take the edge off groomers by the time I'd left. Just odd that yesterday K'wood was pretty empty on a stellar bluebird powder day. Not that I'm complaining. I'm hitting it on some combo of Mon-tues-wed next week.

Note: Patrol was firing the Howitzer at Thimble this morning trying to dial in the site. It was peppered with black spots.

Big thanks to Vets for showing us Northstar newbies how great it is. My wife and I did our first run off the Zephyr before we connected with Vets, and frankly the conditions were not great -- crowded and with a surface that was not icy, but not exactly packed powder, either. Vets took us to the Comstock, where every run was packed powder and unpacked powder off the runs. He's a great ambassador for Sierra skiing!

Uh, sorry you didn't like conditions off Zephyr but time to man or woman up a little. These are groomed blue runs we're talking about off Zephyr. Commy, Vista, Backside and Zephyr were all skiing good today for our group and Northstar gets crowded by 11 or so on a Saturday.

that's probably where they make snow. Blown snow ends up as very hard most of the time.

off the beaten path or lift served, takes about the same time either way.
and that wasn't so much a faceshot. but then again, it wasn't a crash either so i'm not sure how to score it.

Went to Rose today, first chair!!

Got in 2 really nice runins in Nightmare, winbuffed stuff steep on smove.

then there was El Cap. It looked good? Stuffed my ski under about a 12 inch slab and laned on my back about 10 yards below my ski. So i got my first fall of the year in.

And then Thank God the lifts colsed due to wind. Let a few hundred people straned on the East side.

As I was headed out the door today, my wife said they just reported on TV that Mott was going to open at 10:00, call Spats & Bullhorn and said change of plans!

While waiting for the rope to drop Vets showed up also, after 4 laps we all regrouped, vets had to bug out and we got a couple more laps in and finally pulled out the camera, got one shot of Bullhorn & a cool Lenticular over the Valley.
