Wondering how crusty things will be on Friday, with this past week's warm up. It was hot again here today. Great weather. Anyone have any idea what the weather was like up on the crest the past few days? Dust on crust on thin base with low visibility would be more interesting than fun. I'm not sure how bad I want interesting.

BA is now forecasting a little less than before. GFS, OTOH looked nice this morning. It looks interesting. I'm game. Same time and place?

It's gonna snow down to the valleys, but you might try Galena Creek Park. Please take a ruler so that if it's too deep to ride you can at least get a measurement (of snowfall, not your fork).

I'm headed this evening, but won't have time to make it out for any pregame. If you see a fool in a Grizzlycorn shirt, say hi.

woke up to blue bird skis and moderate winds this morning (approx 8:30 am). Then around 10 am it started to snow sprinkle, but it wrapped up and returned to blue bird skies by 10:50 am. Temps during this time were hovering in the low 40 range

Now, at 1:52 pm it has started to snow sprinkle again. The snow is very, very light, but it is starting to stick to the back deck. Winds are moderate again, which will no doubt affect the accumulation down low (as in here at T/D). Temps have dropped below 32 (at least according to the Old School thermometer attached to the back deck).

Will be interested to see where this goes today.

4:31 pm: about an inch accumulated on the rail of the back deck @ the crib in T/D...wind is kicking in, too.

I caught the head of programming for the WC on NPR about a month ago. He was saying that they will be naming EVERY storm from here on out. People were calling in and asking if the NWS was going to adopt these names and the overall vibe was probably not. So, in essence, The WC will be naming every storm for marketing purposes/pop culture value/reality television-styled ratings boosts.

It will be interesting to see the names they come up with: Sandy was such a sweet name for the brute of a storm that wrecked the EC. Wonder if Brutus will live up to his name or end up being more of a pussycat?

FWIW, Googling "Weather Channel Starts Naming Storms" yields a ton of articles from various news outlets, the bulk of which seem to be harshing (not a surprise) on the channel's newly instituted practice.

Yeah but sandy was a regular hurricane name. Athena was the first winter storm named.
