there is still plenty of great powder to be had out there. 10 days since the last snow and we saw 2 tracks on elephant back as we drove out
    so we made another

the way out was still mostly track free too.

after us though some saturday crowds destroyed it. seriously there were snowboarders there that couldn't manage a fallen leaf down it.

If they descended the main face, that's probably one of the sickest/ most dangerous descents ever done in the mainland USA. The objective hazard is nuts, its remote and huge.

sorry about being slow getting back to this thread...

The Patagucc deal is good online and in the outlets. I'd be surprised if they didn't price-match at the in-line stores as well...

And yep, I'm sure, like telemike said, I get some insider information.

Typically these things snowball once word gets out, but the first couple of days in our shop were relatively quiet in general, let alone a promo going. Definitely not the crowds we get during a 40% off sale.

Headed up to Rose Knob Peak on the North Side yesterday, more for the views than the snow. Skied mostly south-facing - the snow got softer the later in the day. All-in-all a fun day in the mountains with friends.

i'm not positive, but it looks like that's what they did - from the summit. ~500' of rappels. their facebook picts are open to the public. one of the guys is from slt. maybe he'll chime in here.

    pretty amazing.

    Hey Powdork and Gimpy,

It is true, I finally joined TGR in order to return your duct-taped glove and get a chance to meet the royalty of the Tahoe thread.

I looked for you at CP parking area ~10 this morning, - too late I guess. I went back to Telluride to ski the bunny slope there again - that line you skied looks crazy even when you get up close - very narrow!

I'm hoping to get out briefly tomorrow afternoon (Heavenly or Maggies), then a longer day on tues. over in the CP area.

Like powdork said, there's still soft snow out there, you just have to hunt the north faces. Staying below treeline is a good idea too as there's less windboard. At the same time, I wish it would snow. I'm looking around at other possible activities, like this. Anyone up for an ice climb?

One spring that face was snow covered one day, completely bare the next. I imagine that happens a lot. Scary.

Had low expectations today, but found some soft stuff out there. Camera angle adjustment still has not been fixed.

    Hmmm....where were you?

Definitely not untracked pow past the ropes at KW. Hit up V-tree yesterday and had to exit right mid-chute as the snow turned to blue ice. A good scare...so that was fun. Found some decent wind-packed on the outer Spur almost down to 88, but the wind made its mark.

Today was west shore day (KW) with Broadway and Boulevard skiing well. Boulevard was steep as hell with pockets of blue ice but were easy to avoid. The rest of the turns were grippy, no fall zone, wind packed turns....

i think a little misunderstanding. when i wrote i would be there tomorrow it was still late friday night. guessing it was already saturday when you read it. i doubt i'll get out tomorrow but tuesday at cp is a possibility. but seriously the glove was on it's way out. it would have been done except the new ones i bought are so damn warm

My god son was tempted to follow you to the waist deep powder you were claiming. I had to explain that you were perhaps not being completely honest. Later we saw your boy slaying turns at the top of 11. Unless someone else stole his steeze.

Had fun skiing lifts with the mrs and friends. All in all, some decent snow to be found in spots. Can't wait for the fresh snow though.

    I third this.

I exercised some poor judgement on Sunday, twice.

First mistake was thinking "east" instead of "north." Spent all week in Los Angeles and saw the initial forecasts of sun and warm. The LA sun, despite healing frostburn on my fingertips from the weekend before, got to my head. I got optimistic for melt-freeze. A lot of freeze, not enough melt. Go north people, go north. Consolidated (heavy) pow turns still exist.

Second mistake was thinking "let's see what the new Burger Lounge is all about" and getting excited that they kept most of the menu items. The cheap tarp sign out front that says "HOT DOGS" and poorly wrapped tarp sign over the beer-stein-sign should have been shooting crack and whumphing clues. Denial is a powerful motivator. The renovated interior looked like a glistening untracked pow field, but lurking underneath ... the kitchen staff is all new, the equipment is all different, the ingredients are sourced differently ... the food? Poor poor execution. Burger Lounge is DEAD. Sorry folks, no revival for that place
