It's probably going to be dust on crust in the BC and super fun fluff on groomers inbounds on Friday. Steepness is not needed for having fun on snow this light and cold as it's easy to get enough speed on a 25-degree meadow skip. You'll have to ask someone more experienced than me where that would be though.
I've been gripped since long before it started snowing, pretty much a steady state.

I have the option of Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun this weekend, Sat/Sun looks like the winner. Might be solo though, so will probably stick inbounds unless somebody is looking for some meadow skipping company.

Sierra was stupid fun today. So many features, & the snow was good. 8-12" of new snow. Definitely set off some small point release slides that would entrain quite a bit of snow on the steeper sections. Saw tons of small crowns that had slid from a skier turn & slid to the hard stuff underneath. Care full if you venture out in the BC, this was all below tree line in the trees @ Sierra.

I mounted some new planks with Dynadukes last night, why did you just not use the template you can download or that come with the plates?

i know that but the other one is in fall right off mode. i bought the blue green lhasas with the dynadukes on them, so no jig. didn't check for a downloadable. i read the instructions for how to get the brakes off the dynafits which is required to get the screws out. i opted for the hammer method, which worked quite well

In my mind that is the ultimate Touring rig at any price. (Except I would go Dyna Look plates)
Thats retail over 1,800 dollars in ski rig.

Cangratulations looking forward to hearing how Dynafit skis on the Big light carbon Lhasa'a

I like the full lock/full absolutely not locked combo.

My next ski will get a Dyna/Look, as soon as I can afford to buy a ski. And a plate. And replace my Megarides with a boot that feels more like my Guns. Until then, I will lug a lot of weight up hill with alpine/Dukes and heavy ass skis.

Ah, danberg. You are only a few days away. How was the snow bonding?

And Nuthon, I love Sierra on days like this, before it gets to filled in and every forest feature is lost under 8 feet of snow. I bet it was fun.

^not to swerve too far into tech talk zone, but, fwiw, might I suggest trying on the Technica Cochise Pro 130?
best fitting A/T boot I've tried and it feels like a true 130 flex (comparing it to my old Nordica Aggressor 130's and current Technica Inferno 130's). skip the Pro Light, though...it's got a really, really wide calf fit (I had at least 4 inches of wiggle room, which was really weird), unless, of course, you have really thick calves/cankles...

the snow seemed to be bonding pretty well. some of the steeper shots would go to the base and train a lot of snow, but nothing was propagating. fwiw where we skied was mostly pretty low angle but got some good pillowy lines in. i would call the base more crusty than icy, and so it is bonding a little better (my 2 cents, only an idiot would base their life on what i say).
LOTS of really fun terrain features right now.

Krystal Kartwright (my wife for those who don't know) is headed to Squaw on Saturday. Anyone able to help us out with a free or discounted ticket? There's beer or wine in it for you...

Got. 4-8" of light snow on crust in the greater Rose area. Was 3 degrees in Incline when we departed. Really fun actually, except for the 3-degrees part.

Anybody want to speculate how skiable Job's Peak is right now (or will be by Saturday)? Every time we get a cold storm that snows low, I remember that this has been on my tick list for a while.

I'd wait till at least the lake level lines have good coverage first before thinking about heading all the way to the high desert floor if that's your plan.

Planning to be there and can hook her up with the pass holder discount. Assuming that's still in effect.
