That's about 4" at 6500' in Kings Beach.

Northstar has 11" up top? Hard to believe, but will have to go investigate.

7-9 reported at Rose, anywhere from 1-4 in my driveway at 5700' on the Reno side. Considering going to Rose for awhile before work.

Skied Squaw on Sunday with a good friend (and full on gaper) from Hawaii. Had no expectations and so was pleasantly surprised at the firm but totally skiable groomers off of Sibo, Emigrant, Shirley, and GC. Turns in the skier scraped ‘shave ice’ were totally fun. No crowds anywhere, all day long. I still have an early season mindset, which is: sliding on any kind of snow is fucking awesome and super fun! I even enjoyed the experience of getting a stinging facial by the ice pellets blasting over the ridge at the top of Sibo and Emigrant. I just love being in the mountains in winter! SUPER BONUS: Introduced myself and said ‘Hi’ to Sherry McC and Kevin O’ at le Cham at the end of the day. SQUAW IS FUCKING AWESOME.

Skied Mt. Rose on Monday and had another super fun day on the mountain. Snow quality on the groomers, while still firm, was way better than at Squaw. Off the groomers, the refrozen chunder was skiable though not a whole lot of fun. Morning sun runs on the Slide side were corntastic, and the Rose side was equally fun later in the day. Hecka good times in the sierra!

Have fun and be safe, y’all.

    Aloha!
I skied Rose Monday morning the Groomers were very nice, I discovered that wearing low light googles alowed me to see the shaded terrian on the Rose side perefectly, So North West and Lower Ramseys were really fun. Must have seen you there there were only about 15 0r 20 of us on the Slide Side the first half hour.

Going to TRose this morning would have been a Job threatening event so I have to suffer and look at fresh tracks on the Web Cams.
    DAMIT! it looks pretty good

Anyone need some wax? I just bought 8 pounds. I have 3-4 bars or red I can get rid of. $13.88/pound bar. http://www.glideonwax.com/?page=Bulk%20Wax

If you want it shipped, you pay shipping. Price reflects cost to me (shipping was $15). Figure there may be a few of you who I see often enough that might need some wax. Not sure how good this stuff is, but I am not a racer, just like to keep my bases fresh. Lord knows I don't need 8 pounds though.

Usually I would but I'm currently not interested in repeating calc 2 for a third time.

but hey after that final, I don't really care and I'll be skiing.

I misjudged and the storm hit a little sooner than I thought it would. Should have headed up today. I'll be there tomorrow to harvest whatever's left. Anyone else?

    From tahoeweatherdiscussion.com:

I know a lot of you have been praying for snow or have asked Santa for snow and it’s working. If I had to write the script I wanted to for the forecast it would be what the forecast currently is.

No changes from yesterday. We start with a quick 4-8 inches tomorrow at lake level and 8-12 inches above 7000 ft. West side of the lake. Then a break on Thursday before more light snow possible Friday from a weakening system. Then later Saturday into Sunday the models are still split but the GFS is getting wetter. We have a cold storm coming with at least several inches if not 1-2 feet of powder if the Euro verifies.

Then next week we have a couple back to back storms after a brief break Monday starting on Tuesday. These are cold storms as well and snow Tue-Fri could pile up at least a couple more feet of powder on the mountains. There is no reason that by Christmas there isn’t at least 4-5 feet of new snow on the mountains if the forecast holds for the next 10 days. Stay tuned…BA

He might not understand you unless you put stuff in quotes.

I was offered a hall pass to drive up tomorrow and ski Friday and Saturday, but I think I'm probably going to hold it for later in the season.

Sweet deal, looks like decent wax. Any plans to be on the north shore? Looks like none of my kids has a south shore race until April.

No, but do you still spend time in Redwood City? I might be over in Palo Alto next week running some errands. Around mid day.

I bet you could put together a buy with Alpine race folks if need be.

It's going to start snowing again around 5 or 6pm today and go until midnight, and then again in the early morning, so tomorrow should be good too.

    (at least for North lake)

Okay, I realize that I may need to turn in about 1500 post counts to ask this question ...

But does anyone have copies of WME Wintervention and/or Flow State that I can borrow?

I know, WME yeah yeah, but there are specific segments from each that I'd like to watch ...

Accumulating showers have been moving through all day here at the Tanuki farm.

It's also pretty damn cold, by Cali daytime standards.

kwood was pretty good today. some areas up high where the crusty ice layer was strongly evident under the fluff, but typically once you dropped down a turn or two it was quality powder skiing. the lack of people was most appreciated.
