Squaw was terrible today. No reason to go out tomorrow.

Oh who am I kidding, you all know that this is the first decent snow we got in a while. Lot was shockingly full for a Thursday morning. Upper mountain was the best I've seen this year. Snow is on the sticky side, so it started to pack into moguls by 11:something.

Was not overhead blower, but it was bottomless and much needed food for the soul, hello winter again at least for a couple days

Been rainy steady down here on the coast since for the past few hours. Water is running. If this band moves east could be a nice refresh for the morning.

Keep praying. KW could use it. Got a great base to work with now.
I hit rocks in the saddle where I hardly ever hit them. Vets stuck on one in pali and double ejected.

We skied a few places that would be tracked up by 9:30 most days, at 3:30 with no tracks.

Tomorrow should be good. I'd imagine Scott and Sherwood will go.

Holler if you'll be at Alpine.
Thanks for letting me stay at your place last night and saving me a trip back to Reno. You and your fiance are incredibly gracious hosts.

Alpine was excellent again today. Jables and I were there from just about start to finish. We got all over the mountain and the day finished with us still finding untracked lines. It's nice winter finally decided to return.

Where was everyone today? Me and Snowbyrd had the whole Coon Creek cirque to ourselves! 6-8" most places and no real obvious instability, tho we stayed away from anything steeper than 35. Skied all the major chutes and never saw another person once the party of three left at 10am. They only skied one of the chutes and then took off. Maybe they heard the resorts got a dump?

Squaw was pretty darn good today. I think a crowd of 10,000 descendended upon the Shirley and Granite chairs..and it was a weekday.

Decided to hit Granite from Emmigrant which had no line. KT and Red Dog were empty. West Face Alternates were interesting.

Sweet bottomless goods on the town bike today. Props to JT for setting the kind skin track and introducing himself while passing me headed for lap 3.

i left tahoe on tuesday so it figures that snow would arrive wednesday.. i had a blast and from an east coaster it was an awesome experience. i cant wait to go back and hopefully i get a nice pow day. monday wasnt to bad with the snow sunday but go tracked out quick. hiked up the saddle at kw and couldnt believe how winded i got. not used to the altitude i guess and out of shape but it was worth it. alot of locals were very nice and the trip was perfect. you guys who live out there are lucky and should cherish it everyday.

Silverton? We had some pretty good guides there in February.....just a recommendation (John Shockley has been there since the start, or Chris from Tahoe).

Yep JT made it easy today Went for seconds after my partner had to get back to work and briefly chatted to a solo skier on the way down while I was skinig up from afar, you?

Sounds right, you were near the top, I was in awe of the conditions . . . those first few turns were unreal.

Not surprising: the upper mountain at Squaw was a madhouse today. I've never seen such a long line at Granite that early on a weekday. Probably because of the flat light, I suppose.

Surprising: how much untracked snow there was off KT (and no line).

Yeah, we took a look at the line on Granite twice and continued to ski everything else. I love the terrain on Granite and all, but that level of discrepancy seemed pretty random, especially with plenty of untracked to be had everywhere.

Glad to hear everyone got out and got some.

Another day of no lines and fresh snow at Alpine. Headed back out today to see how much more my legs can handle. Likely going to dodge the Saturday crowds (but might head to KW?) and then tour monday/tuesday.

One day at Silverton (heli being shipped to AK though), maybe a touring day, day or two with the kids at Telluride...maybe a heli day...

Looks like a spring setup though...oh well.

Huh. That was on my radar too. I'm guessing someone got it today and that multiple parties will get it tomorrow. Could definitely be wrong though.

Probably no better, is anybody familiar with the condition of Babycham? I'm supposing it goes but that it'd be a tight fit through the protruding rock/crux near the bottom.

Rose had plenty of untracked today (and lots of tracked of course). It was heavier classic Sierra cream cheese turning to cement. Chutes were empty!

Well this is how it looked today, appears nice, but it was pretty bullet proof under a couple inch's of fluff, booted down a short ways, on one side the same, other side of me a bit softer bottom, but about 6 inch's down there was a very sugary layer. We decided to pass as we have hit that line in overhead blower and there were to many high quality turns to be had elsewhere. Might be good 1/2 way down but who knows.

    Dam fine day today regardless!
