I keep offering my skis to people to try, even short people. I'm a midget and I don't want shorter ones.

But I don't run a business. If you want something made, get some friends together and wave some benjis around. That's how the first gen got made.

Or just head up mt rose highway at the right hour of the morning with a camera and blackmail AKbruin into buying them for you with some junk shots sent to the right newspapers.

just throwin it out there NB and Hoarhey after i saw NB's interest in a shorter version. i'm just touring and don't need anything longer for the speeds i'm going and don't want anything wider than 113 waist. after sweating the numbers on the bc's , i'm more than happy with the way they turned out. great customer service and the bases are tough as fuck which were both above and beyond my expectations

fuck i type slow. thanks Woo. i was the same height until i shrunk myself a full inch last yr. the legs are still the same however(short) and i find it troublesome on the up(switchbacks). lighter weight helps too. thought on the off chance there was more peeps out there that were interested it might happen. like you say, with enough people/$'s
edit; i think i'll just stick with the more people/$'s. method. leave the rest to the paporazzi

I shrunk an inch when I broke my back two years ago. I used to be a towering 5'9".

Switchbacks are nothing with a center-ish mounted ski. The real bitch is that herringbone walk think you do at ski areas.

But yeah if there are enough peeps that want a shorter version, gang rush praxis with an order.

I would be in for a shorter wootest as well.
Maybe we could take advantage of some of Keith's ideas for tip/shovel width mod in that (another thread woo 3.0)?

tip was already changed from 1 to 2. No further change as far as I know.
Some mention of increasing width of shovel (a tad more sidecut), but not sure if/when.

ya i wouldn't want to stray too far from where its at , if at all, after trying its mentor "the protest" for the 1st time yesterday. i wonder what kind of numbers Keith would need to do this? i have a couple friends in mind that might be interested and possibly more. i'd temper that with they are both family guys on a budget(squeaky wallets). i'm pretty sold on a 180 carbon/fibreglass for myself. i'd guess that would be under 8.5 lbs

A 180 even in normal layup and med-stiff would have to come in pretty light.

I have a 184 Pure Wailer with Dynafit ST Verticals.

And, 177 Protest with Dynafit Comforts (mistake!)

The Protest is only 100gms heavier [56.4 US drams].

If I really wanted to be accurate, I'd account for the weight difference in skins as well.

If a WooTwo 180 could power turns through baked and blown variable rubbish like the Protest does, then that would be cool.

What's this "if" shit. You know what really does? A 187 wootest 2.0.

i was surprised how well the protest carved for that big a waist. all i have to compare to is flyswatters and line epp's and thats not even a fair comparison. they needed a little speed to really get them to work but lots of energy out of the turn and zero deflection through the heavy chop and mash. only one day and first day for me both on a lift and alpine(new) boots this yr. once i got used to the speed they were $'s. untracked i just wanted to open it up, soo fun. so ya if the WooTwo has those traits fuckya. my 1 and only concern is would that be too stiff for bc and/or touring boots.guess i could address that with the order. i need more days on the protest i think

Incoherent ramblings of a short balding readhead...

Grinch - if you only ski stiffer AT boots, you'll never know the difference. I'm on Titans. Alpine boots will probably just lead to a realisation of deep disappointment, so I ignore them.

The Protest just rounded everything out in terms of feel and movement through bad snow. "Round" is the word that comes into my head, not sure why. Kind of like being on a powerful snowboard again, like a Never Summer. Coming from 100's of days on a W112 I'm probably more sensitive to the difference offered by the Protest. I bet my alpine snow skiing (rather than tree skiing) is about t get a whole lot faster.

ya 10-4 on that nb. a pass and some cohise's or vulcan's are on the list for next yr. pretty sure these quadrants have gotten softer. they just seem to fold at the apex of a turn

For 180'ish wootest, I've seen the following interest in this thread:
(part of touring series, it would have carbon/hybrid layup by default)

    hoarhey
    neck beard (potentially)
    grinch
    snapt

    Anyone else?

    Question for seasoned Wootest/Protest users:

Apart from reduced flotation, does the Wootest 2.0 feel like the Protest? As in, do you feel right at home on them coming off Protests?

My BCs are seeing less and less use, as my Protests continue to shine, and I'm thinking Wootest 2.0s (or 3.0 - any rumours?) will replace the BCs when they expire.

    Yes

And other than superlight low water content blower, they really don't even have any less flotation.

    Good

Skiing mostly in NZ, superlight blower is not my biggest problem. Sadly....

Actually I'd be more worried about their behavior on windy rime (which is what I, having never been to new zealand think there's a lot of).

It's not bad but it's not awesome.
