    OT: Bikes. Motorbikes, that is.

I'm thinking of picking one up this spring since I'm a lazy fuckwit who doesn't mtb worth a damn anymore. A used Triumph Speed Triple has caught my eye.

    Whatchoo know about it?

    In general.

Reason I asked: it's a big bike for a beginner.

The speed trip should be a good scoot.

I rode a 955 Daytona and was blown away by the power and sound of the 3cyl and the performance of the braking. The speed trip should be similar, if just a bit detuned. This was my buddy's bike and his long term impression of the overall quality of the bike was good. The Dayt was quite a big leap from my old Rigid T120R chopper. Trump's come a long way, the new bikes seem really well made.

speed triple is a lot of bike for a first bike. Classic hooligan bike for running from the cops and doing wheelies through traffic. Smaller displacement would be better, and just as fun.

Now also sorta considering a Ducati Monster 620

...and wondering if I'd be better off putting the money into my house, or maybe a sportscar instead.

If it's your first bike, get a used beater and plan on dropping it in a parking lot once or twice, because you will.

Also, adding a sidecar will not get you laid as much as you think.
