So yesterday was the travel day, up at 5am out the door and on the road by 6. Mrs. DougW takes first shift and kills it we're up 1/2 hour on the trip down. I start on the second 4 hour stint behind the wheel, I find a storm and blow the 1/2 hour and maybe more. Doug W grabs stage 3 and cruises through, slides through customs with the greatest of ease and on to Calgary. Cruise into Calgary well within our window looks like a 12 and a half hour trip, starts puking slowing us down then we stop dead in traffic who knows how long cruise into Doug's 1 hour later , congrats to Doug for keeping sane in the traffic it really did suck. Swap my gear into my van and get set for the next stage of the trip only 4ish hours as long as it works right. Start out of the city at 8pm. Cruise to Canmore for donuts and coffee ( back in Canada for the Timmy's) hit the Banff gates get 5km in and the snow hits again, slowed down below the speed limit. Into the Lake for gas, more coffe and some water. Leave town for the 2 hour trip up the parkway, icy ruts for the first hour and I'm not half way yet. Road gets good for tthe next section and I'm picking up time. Last half hour and the 18 hours plus in the car gets to me can't really see stuff apears and disappears on the side of the road and I'm wigging out. Finally at my place at 1am, 19 hours in a vehicle and I am done. Off to bed and set the alarm for 6:30. Wake up hit the shower try to remember what my name is and why I'm doing this to myself. Remember good summit memories and it all becomes worth it. Hit work and check out the stoke from the week, start to feel refreshed and taken back (thanks for posting the picks Roo). I won't be getting much done this am. Long story short 19+ hours in a car, home, tired, happy, sore ass from driving ( actually feels like someone kicked my right cheek with a ski boot) and ready to do it all again tommorrow if the opporotunity came up.
