It would be interesting to know what went on weather wise as this was a 3' crown. I do know there were warm temps state wide - it may not have gotten much below freezing the night prior to the slide. Those pesky persistant weak layers!

    Hope he does OK -

From CO avy center (sure most of you guys already looked here, but here is an easy link)

We have details on a human-triggered avalanche that occurred this morning. In Nellie Bowl just outside of the Telluride ski area, a skier triggered a large avalanche on an on E aspect at 12,500'. It was up to 3' deep, and averaged 18" (SS-AS-R3-O). The skier was caught, carried 1800' vertical through a rocky couloir, was injured but not buried.

moderate with pockets of considerable nw, N, ne, to E indeed was the report as of 1:10 pm on Sat., but has since been updated to considerable on all aspects. here is that avy report

1800 feet of swimming for it and being dragged through the rocks. What an awful ride. Can anyone say post traumatic stress disorder? Lucky to have lived.

No text or radio pages page came through. I don't think this was in either of the counties I'm in (and haven't heard any mutual aid calls).

OTOH I might have missed it. I'm 61 hours into a 96hr continuous ambulance shift. I'm going to take a catnap.

I hope that guy is OK.

EDIT: Wow there was an avalanche near Breck.

Should I take a full time position?
