    Can I straightline?

What are some good straightlines in the Tahoe area with loooong ass run-outs?

I still can't ski for 3 months or so, but my orthopod says I can start running now..so long as I stay in a straight line..no pivoting.

So I figure straightlining stuff on skis would be even more low-impact on my knee than straight running. I mean, hell, I'd just be like, standing there, on my skis, but moving kinda fast, and going straight. Safe for the knee, no?

I thought of Once is Enough at KW, but I wouldn't be able to make that big sweeping GS-er at the bottom yet. I think I need to go backcountry.

It's kind of a lame one, but there is one at the bottom of the cirque that goes all the way to the flats there. Starts right through some trees...

crazy...but I actually think I know exactly where you're talking about. Skiers left of Kodak? Sometimes called Warriors chute by the KW crew.

I'd have to actually ski down to the top of that one though.

I need something where I can just skin to the top, and straight it out. No real skiing or turning can occur anywhere so I don't damage my new acl.

Sweden seems to be the only solution.

I wonder if my ortho ever had anyone ask for "straightline clearance"

Well, you can just take Chair 1 up, hike up the flat into eagle bowl and there you are.

Move to MN... Ski straight down every single thing you see, bludgeon yourself due to boredom, then repeat.

I seem to recall reading that when Marc Girardelli blew out his knee, two months or so after surgery he asked his doc if he could ski on one leg. Figuring this guy is one of the best in history and that he could ski better on one leg than most could ever hope to ski on two, the doc agreed. A few weeks later, the doc gets a letter from Girardelli thanking him for the good work on the surgery, etc., and saying that he has been off skiing on one leg for a bit now. He also included a pic of him skiing on one leg, with a note on the back saying "Note which leg I'm skiing on." It was the one that the doc had just fixed

That's pretty funny. Quite awhile back I took the deposition of an orthopedic surgeon. Turns out the guy used to work for Steadman, back when he was in Tahoe. We started talking about skiing, him working on the Mahre brothers etc. Then he tells me this story about Girardelli; several weeks after whatever knee surgery was done, Girardelli is meeting w/ the docs and PT people, to discuss rehab. This doc walks into the room to find Girardelli in the middle of doing one legged squats w/225 lbs on the repaired leg...Girardelli asks, "Doctor, can I do this?" Doctor nearly shits his pants, but has to say, yeah, I guess you can.
