ya, i noticed you were gone pretty quick. i didn't last long when i went back out. i stayed out too long and got cold. had to wear a wet suit yesterday...man did the temp drop!

my little man G picked up a little firewire from crop to demo. it's nice!

its good this am at the wall. somebody had a great barrel ride as i watched before going to work.

this surfing shit is so humbling.

edit- btw Ross had his Byrne 5' 8" red/black stripe on tail stolen outside the shop yesterday. so much shit is getting f'd with this year and so far the ones caught have been from our neighbors to the north. shit is gettin to the boiling point with them.

ya, this morning was 5.5ft @ 13 seconds with a good angle. i heard from a few friends that nh was closing out pretty badly at a few beaches. maine was definitely bigger and not closing out too badly. had some tremendous rights that were head + where every turn off the top had me doing a lil freefall back down onto the face and into another deep bottom turn. that 5'8 i showed you is unreal, cheating really. no current either. last nights sesh took the cake of this whole week of swell for me tho. karen and i pull up at 430 to this perfect a-frame glassy peak and lapped the chest+ waves for 2 hours. only one other dood nearby on a sunny sunday afternoon. musta got close to 40 good waves in those 2 hours. water was cold but i was sweating from all the activity.

buoy definitely dropped this afternoon so i napped instead. buoy is back up to 5'@ 13 again and could be bigger in am. back to maine fer sure for the high tide 8-11am shift before work

mmmm, ya haven't surfed rhody in almost 20 years but do have fond memories of ruggles, the corner, the landing, and bailys.

this morning maine was just another perfect one for the books. clean, chest/head, very few folks out and straight off shores just like every other day all day long, cept for saturday. such beauty weather too. don't know if i can work my full 12-8 shift today. me thinks 12-4 would be much more appropriate

Someday I might be ready for prime time. Maybe next year. Good for all those who got after it. Enjoyed watching and tasting a little. Long way to go.

^^^^^dunno, i wuz stuck on a 12 pitch roof in northern vermont all day. tomorrow will be an even longer day on da roof. at least all the prep is done. my phone was busy with friends saying "busiest here they've ever seen", or "closing out pretty bad from long period at many spots". maybe they were just trying to make me feel like i wasn't missing much. swell didn't pick up much till mid morning and was fading tonight from another source that called me.

i don't like driving much anymore, so i prefer to do as little as possible for waves or snow. could be worth it i guess.

    good luck!

If it is long period, then there are way better spots between those two worth hitting up. Try looking for a point or a reef. Hint, there is a spot listed in this thread. And another is not too far from Gooches. Just drive south, poke around, and wait for the sets. You'll find the goods. Third spot worth looking, especially if you have a small boat to launch, would be a rocky island near Porpoise Rocks. Oh, and da rivermouth can be good, especially mid tide coming in, if there is some size with that period.

ya, i always find prime time summer to be not as bad as fall/winter/spring oftentimes. many folks won't surf in summer cuz of crowds and wait till after labor day when it's just as crowded or worse. glad the last week long swell wasn't too bad. sounds like it def set this one up to be wicked busy.

roof work is done for now. gotta hand carry 4000 pounds of arch shingles up the ladder in the am then back to the coast by early afternoon. been pretty up here, but man do i miss home.

Damn Im missing Maine right now! And surfing... and everything about the ocean! Fly fishing and hiking out here in MT just dont quite make up for having the ocean as your playground.

Thanks for the stoke Rog, keep it coming!

    yesterday was FKNA FUN!!!

got a coupla sessions in before 10am at 2 different spots here nh while the gf taught yoga and before we headed up to the white's for an overnight camping trip. ne is awesome

rye beach was really playful chest high a-frame steep bowls everywhere. sets were a bit bigger and it was pretty much hero surfing. with the tide dropping i then headed to the wall, just south of the hoards and scored overhead waves with a pretty stiff offshore wind which made for super fun late drops to nicely lined up walls.

amazing how much bigger the wall was than rye or the points. so good.

just got back from camping. nice to have the mountains 1.5 hours from the coast. wind looks a bit on it now, but may score a late day sesh while the gal teaches more yoga.

    september has been sensational!!!

ha...was at rye at low tide then the wall at high tide with da boy. better at the wall later with the wind dropping a bit.

'killed' two bikes in one week...comes in threes so i'm thinking about breaking out the skis...i like having an excuse to buy new ones. maybe i run them over accidentally.
