Sure would be fun to get a day in of touring outside of Mammy- I'm pretty sure most of Saturday & Sunday will be spent in bounds so seems like Friday would be a great day for a tour (of course, weather pending)

    Bueller?.....
Sounds like a good idea to me

Access is gonna be the issue. A LONG skin in unless there's some serious melt in the next couple weeks. I was just sledding on McGee on Sun, when the 100 mph winds moved in. Howling, oh yeah! The when up to Virginia lakes on Mon. & Tues. Dunderberg peak, pretty fun. Black Mtn is on the hit list, now. Still SO much snow! Opening day of fishing season is the last Sat of the month. Wonder about Tioga. Hmmm????
    Laurel sure was looking sweet!

I love them! But the pink one screams out Girl Summit. Now - who will print them? We only need about 60 - 100. I'd say about 100 people will be at the Mini, given all the conversations I've had (people bringing friends, all the Mammoth board people)

    Thumbs up

Only a J in the Mammoth's mouth would make that sticker cooler.

That is waaaaaaaaaay too much pink in the second one.

    Nice work, tuffguy.

We also need a "pass" for Lakanuki, so they know who gets the drink discount.

I'm still in conversation about exactly what kind of drink for the discount - he offered well drinks, or maybe a specialty drink or two (he said margs).
Maybe something that just says Maggot Pass for drinking?

Squirrel, I was thinking the same thing. I'd absolutely love to ski Bloody. But Schralper brings up a good point. There's a dirt road that most people take to get close the base of the couloir in spring. Only problem, it's probably buried right now. From what I understand, it's a loooong slog unless you can drive up said road.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Maybe the ridgeline that runs from Bloody to behind Mammoth. Seems like there's lots of options there and we could yo-yo it. Tioga could be sweet, but the gate's not gonna open for a while. Virginia Lakes is , but I've only looked at it before. Never skied back there so I don't know much about winter access.

YES it is a LONG slog to get to bloody from just off Sherwin rd. That's where the snows at now.
Tioga maybe open late May. Damn! Or cool depending on how ya look at that. Just wish the gate was open!
V Lakes is way cool. But still access, unless they plow out the road to the lake. I'll check on it on the way down. Was just there last week, like 5 ? mile approach to Dunderberg. Good turns and terrain just transistional snow. Black mtn. looks NICE and STEEP. Near Mammy, McGee is right off the road and might be ok, Laurel is on my wish list. Something by Convict lake, day trip from lot? Or McGee Cr? Maybe up towards the crest?? We can roshambo to decide where, when we know who's in and what the snows lookin like.

Screw it, I'm going. I don't yet have the pleasure of knowing anybody here, and I hardly post, but it just sounds like too much fun. Plus I have an April 30 birthday, which seems like the new pink this year.

I'll volunteer to drive some Bay Area folkels down there. Let me know if you want a ride.

Arty, I'm right there with ya.

I've never had a chance to tour around mammoth and that sounds...sooooooooooo tempting right now! Plus with all that base, hopefully some good ol' California sunshine and some nice corn (or pow???) harvesting!

On a side note (that I wish I knew on my previous Mammoth trip ),
anyone with Intrawest passes or discount cards at other resorts gets between a 25% and 50% hookup on tix.

I'd be down for a Sunday tour, since, well, I can't make it until Friday night. As to where, doesn't really matter to me.

There'll probably be a few that'll stick only to single black diamonds, the bulk will ski anything on a trail map, and a pretty large portion are the "big mountain ripper-types."

Is it kosher for someone who knows no one on the board to come to a summit? That would be me. Yes.

I'm looking into rolling out there cuz it sounds like it's a damn good time, just gotta work the details out.

Any rides from Reno available? or anywhere else for that matter, since I don't own a plane ticket yet. Reno's far and away your best bet. You may be able to hook up with someone, but since you're new and none of us know you, you'd better plan on getting yourself there without additional help.

Maybe early dawn patrol? But a few of us gotta catch the last flight out of Reno @ 8:15pm. I'm sure we'll need to be trucking out of Mammoth by 2:30pm on Sunday.

I'm open to any day- either Friday/Saturday/Sunday

I'd be ok with the dawn patrol since I don't drink, but something tells me not many will want to be waking up early after the Lakanuki carnage Sat. night.

I'm gonna have to wait to see how Saturday night pans out

But wouldn't rule out crashing early and making a 'somewhat' dawn patrol
