Haha it looks like a size in between the GoPro and Contour but with option of goggle mount so no teletubby required. I've only found one sample video so far of the footage on sony's site, but I'd be interested in seeing more.

For me personally, I'm waiting to see the next rendition of the VIO POV. Everything is sold out right now and has been for quite some time, which leads me to believe a new rendition/version is coming out. If I'm right with that, I bet they're cutting the cord and going bluetooth to the camera body. It'd be nice if the body got smaller and it came with an integrated rechargeable battery instead of always having to userechargeable AAs.

Seems odd to design a POV cam that you have to put in a case to protect it...should be built to take abuse without a bulky case.

So the best and most popular POV camera is odd?

A little, just so common now that's it's probably much more accepted.

I'm really intrigued by the 120 fps on this thing.... Can't wait to see a Texan skiing a groomer in MEGAMO

Uhh, yeah. Would be nice if it was more bomber like a VIO POV.HD so you could ditch the case...even if it meant an extra $50.

The 1st Look video on the endgadget link looks pretty good when you watch it in 720p. Seems like a lot less rolling shutter "jello vision" than most of the systems out there. Will be interesting to see more video from the real world.

SOB don't get all butt hurt now, I was talking about the GoPro. You've got 3K posts and you mean to tell me you haven't seen rants on how stupid the thing looks? Don't get me wrong, its a great option that keeps getting better...just a terrible form factor. Was just making the point that the sony (and gopro) should be built to withstand getting knocked around a bit versus having to worry about encasing the thing.

I'm sure you're such an engineering genius you could figure something affordable out that none of these other manufacturers have been able to do. I'm sure someone could make a bulletproof lipstick style cam able to do what these can for several thousands of dollars. But, the market they are looking at, right now, these are the most viable cost effective options to sell tons of units.

A product, even if the best option, that isn't affordable to your market is useless. An awesome cam with a cheap plastic housing that is waterproof seems most cost effective. They don't care right now about how much of a gaper you look with the thing sticking off your dome. They are selling tons of awesome cams for dirt cheap. If they made it more durable, more streamlined and sold it for $800 they would sell a shitload less. Look at the VIO. It was expensive and hadn't seen a sliver of the proliferation the GoPro has.

I've never been a fan of POV. Both wearing it or watching it. I am surprised it took the big brands so long to find a product to compete with Go Pro.

Smmokan, don't hate...love the idea of the 720P at 120fps and image stabilization. Also as mentioned, this will not stick out like a frigin' bar of soap on top of the helmet.

I honestly would only use it for ski review footage to add to my stuff, or testing footage for a company I work with on ski design. Wouldn't wear it while shooting stills with you

    And there it is!

I feel the same way. Don't mind them, as long as your creating some good content
