    TR: Ribolov Slovenija +

Took a trip, there were fish. It was fun.
-didn't bring my gear, but people hooked me up and I had a couple of great days fishing.

    Eastern European 3-D camera

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia (no fishing allowed), still cool.

I stumbled upon the Dicatator Tito's abandoned mansion "Villa Izvor"
-it felt haunted by communist party people

Ghostface tree gave me a start

    Vintgar Gorge, Slovenia

    -the same river
Radovna River, Slovenia (near Lake Bled)

lunch at my friend's grandfather's cabin

Dry fly fun! (new to me, we don't do this out here) -just behind the cabin

    grandpa's trophy lounge

Soca River, Slovenia (outside of Bovec)

The water is the most beautiful I've ever seen, it glows so bright it's blinding, and it's good to drink.
    There are also fish.

    Trout, it's what's for dinner

The people in Slovenia were fantastic! So gracious and generous.
If you get the chance I highly recommend going there.
I didn't find any Marble Trout this time, but I'll definitely be back.

Thanks guys, I thought I'd shoot it up here for folks to think about, I would go back and spend more time in Slovenia for sure.

-Slovenia is really pushing their image as a fly fishing destination. I only ran into 2 other fishermen on the rivers, so it's basically untapped, but they have stunning waters there and great fish and I can see the scene getting bigger for sure.

The grandpa was the Triglav National Park game manager. They have very strict gun laws in Slovenia, making him one of the few people who could hunt legally. I wish the pictures of that room and his house turned out better, as he had mounts from all over the world as well as pictures with him guiding various Cold War era muckety-mucks (Tito for one).

The Soca River from the "Slovenian Matterhorn"

The water was magical, it was so clear it didn't seem real. and it tasted sooo good

The bones were from the Ossuary (Bone Church) in Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic. 40,000 human skeletons adorn the interior of the church. I thought it was cool and weird so I added it for fun.

Oh man....Slovenia has been on my list for a while now. This settles it.

How hard was it to get to Triglav? Where did you fly into?

I was on a long trip all over Europe but the Triglav National is only a couple hours NE from Ljubljana, the capital.
-Travelling over the pass from Kranjska Gora to Bovec is excellent.

The train and bus system works well but it would be more convenient and direct to have a car.
-plus you could get around to the different holes, I rented a bike and didi my best.

Lake Bled (I stayed here, which has a fly shop) and Lake Bohinj are great and there are fly fishing rivers open nearby plus other recreation and great hikes.

The Soca river is further East. Tolmin, Kobarid (there is a fly shop in one of these two towns) and Bovec (stayed here and loved it!) all have hot fishing spots.
-most popular as a kayaking destination
-Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms is based on the Soca Front.

I will definitely be back to Slovenia, the people and the country are beautiful, it's going to get popular.

Let me know if you have any more Q's, I'm happy to help.
