Long island surf info BETA for ski bum / will trade for skiing or surfing info in BC

hey, I just moved from BC back east to go to school, i haven't surfed in a while and I have next week off.
I looked at the forecasts and looks like the nicest destination from where I live is Long Island
I was thinking of hitting Montauk and the East Hamptons, K-road?.
From the info I am gathering it seems hard to get access and parking permit?
Can trade for some Revelstoke-Rogers pass - Golden info and some remote Vancouver Island surf destination or more mainstream Vancouver Island, free camping spots to hit etc..

There is closer stuff in long beach, lincoln ave is popular but all you have to do is find a jetty and there will be a sandbar. You can park back in the neighborhoods and there is some pay lots. Gilgo and rockaway have pretty decent setups too. I dont know much on the hamptons but i did surf the point in montauk on a big day and its a nice righthander with reasonable access. North jersey has some good surf too as well as rhode island. Its an interesting part of the country to explore and surf and gets surprisingly good waves....

Rockaway has a great set up at 92nd(ish) St. Used to surf there whenever there were waves for 4 or 5 years. At least while I was living in the city. Easy train ride out on the A. I found it to be, IMO the best wave between NY and at least past Jones,Gilgo area. Did not get to the far end of the island much, but whenever I did, we found something.

Rhode Island is much better in the variety of breaks it has. Pt. Judith gets fun when it is big. Matunuck for fun sized. Narraganset for small beach break. Oh, and of course the Ruggles for when there are waves. I hear the eastside has lots of goodies, too.

It was 20 yeasr ago, so thing may change, but, I parked at Matunuck over night and was awakened around midnight by a cop, pulled out of my car, had my car searched, found half gram weed and I was thrown in jail for the night. So, I wouldn't chance it again.

I never really had a hard time parking in RI, and there seems more access to more breaks. LI has parking in only a few areas. Or, if you have a 4X4 (at least 20 yrs ago, you could) there are beaches you can drive on for a fee. We never found waves along them.

If you want more details on RI, PM me. I'll share what I know.
