Headed to Manchester tonite through Sunday, how are water levels? Can anyone point me in a general direction?
I should have a few hours to kill everyday to waste some time.

Think our mole at Orvis would point you towards the Mettawee(sp?). Don't ask me where that is....northward from Manchester I believe.. Think it's one of those partial spring creeks/some-limestone...
Battenkill is a good bet. Never fished there myself, but it is a fully wild trout stream, browns mostly I think... L8apx will have better info.

I was actually in the Orvis store, oh, 2 weeks ago or so?? They were saying that the batenkill was fishing alright in the mornings (tricos) and evenings (caddis??), but that was a while back...
More recently (like this past weekend), I've spent some time on small mountain brooks a bit north of Manch, and the levels are low... really low. I spooked so many fish, but the ones I caught were nice fish. It is a different drainage than the 'kill (dumps into the otter), so I'm not sure how or if that would mean anything, but generally the levels around everywhere are super low. Fish are still out, but like I said, spooky as shit.
But hell, if the 'kill if fishing well, go for it - what's not to love about wild trout in cold waters?

metawee north of manch in pultney has some great wild brown fishing. Battenkill(the beat from cambridge, NY to Arlington, VT is great) and Hoosic are a good bet in the morning as well. Also check some of their tribs. Other then that flows are very low and I would take AKOK advice, mt water is still cold and the fishing is super active still, just not as big. If you feel like driving an hour or so, the furnace brook, neshobe, and middlebury rivers are still running cold and tons of big fish in there. They are all otter creek tribs. Also the leicester has some great small mouth and browns in there and is also a limestone river.
The best bet is the kill in the evening along 313 in Arlington. Flying ants should be the trick as they are starting to show. I might be able to get out Monday if you are still around.
Harvest the ride.
