I chatted with Max for a moment or two, he is indeed NOT Brett.

I met Max up on the slopes. He still could be Brett.

He skied pretty well for a LA boy. He'll get there. In a year or two, he will be ripping it up with the best of us.

His whole posse followed us down Alta 1, and then I lost them. Sorry Max- I only get outta FL to ski every once in a while. I don't like to stop much.

If Max had been alone, I think he would have been on our heels. His group seemed to be slowing him down a little.

And Max- thanks for the props up on the slope. I may live in Florida, but my heart has always been in the mountains. You'll see- it is amazing what a few 80-90 day seasons will do for your skilz. Just don't screw up and move back south like I did.

I see the SLCs every once in a while. Blew out the sidewall on mine at Plattakill, so they were the test ski at the shop after that.

    Welcome to the mayhem mang!

Good to see Joe get JONGed. Welcome to the club.

TeleDave- thanks for being a sport when I asked you to move so I could shoot some footage. It was good footage. Nice meeting you briefly after that.

Descriptions and more pics to come later... It was one HELL of a great trip. The guys at the Hostel kick ass and the whole mountain was killer. I will SURELY be road tripping to J-Hole from my new home (starting next fall ) REGULARLY. I hope everyone else had as good a time as I did.

We took lots of photos. Here are some more (I am slutting most of the time because it's my camera. )

Definitely an improvement over my last set of shots, methinks. I would like to reinforce the amount of ass this trip kicked. It was a lot. The end...

The most progressive mountain for steeps has the lamest box slide ever. What a laugh! It took 4 years to get our mountain to let us air to box or rail slides. The "ride on" approach with no traneys to ride off on to is so LAME!

Ever notice how the more radical the natural terrain is, the lamer the park tends to be? And look at where some of the best parks are: Stratton, Park City, Mountain Creek...

I remember a article on Alta saying that the park there wasn't that good, but it didn't matter because the whole mountain was one big terrain park.

At one point I had heard a rumor that Alpental was going to cordon off an area of the mountain, and "enhance" the natural terrain: shaped takeoffs over cliff hucks with better shaped landings (but not groomed), actual "lines" through the "park" so people wouldn't fly into each other, and a "park" attendant to kind of watch over things...

Sounded sort of cool, but then Alpental never opened...

No shit about the park. It was lame. Like really lame. It didn't flow at all, and you guys are totally right about the box (which was about 5 feet long, it seemed). The hits were mini and not enough. And they almost NEVER opened the big park (which has lips that love to make you come up short... ouch). Never skied the pipe once because I never saw it open once over the course of 7 days...

But I won't forget to mention that I advocated gravely before my friends and I left to get there: "there is NO reason to waste your time in the park. We will be bypassing WAY too much sick terrain." Which turned out to be true, but it was kinda convenient having the park at the bottom of almost every run off the Gondy, making it easy to hit without wasting time...

I'll add some more pics and descriptions later... I swear. Just gotta get some time.

Hmmph... turns out I met plakespear... We were the jongs sitting in the hostel all packed up at about 10 in the morning on the second Sunday. We were asking you about how you got hurt. I saw the stickers on your helmet, but I don't think we were ever introduced... Nice meeting you anyway, dude. Good luck with the knee. Positive vibes.

Dude it was a community pack. I put my friends' stuff in my pack (which I admit is ENTIRELY too big for resort skiing) because I am a nice guy.

I did in fact buy a smaller one and donate the big pack that you see in the picture to a friend of mine, but he made me trade with him in Jackson because he, too, realized that that is a big ass pack. (I agreed because, again, I'm a nice guy. )

Roger on that outfit, Plakespear. I wanted to tell you when I saw you that your shoes were badass, but I never got a chance.
