Whitefish saturday and Fernie today TR

Friday night in Fernie it was pouring rain, thunder and lightning too (in Feb?? weird weather). We decided Big Mt. might be worth going to in the morning, at least you could ski to the bottom of the mountain there. When we got up at 6:00 am there was about 15cm of snow on the ground and puking. We decided to still do Whitefish and let Fernie heal.

We got to Big Mt. at 9:30 and there was about 15cm there also and still putting it down. Bonus we were expecting spring like conditions. It was an excellent day, we got lots of fresh trax. It really amazed me how few people ski off piste there... it seemed almost everyone was doing groomers except us. Anyways here are a couple pics:

Mrs FFH playing in the trees.

...and yours truely finding some stashes in the wood.

Me again finding some deep stuff on Bighorn:

This was on the east rim, We were finding windloaded slopes in here that was waist deep in spots:

    Then this morning we woke up to a total of 52cm of pow in about the last 36 hours. So needless to say Fernie is HEALED!!! Here are some shots from today;

Nice!! Good to see Fernie getting back into winter.

Love that whitefish tree skiing too, they've got some great terrain there.

Great news. It was only a matter of time before the Griz returned!

Oh, and nice photos. Knee deep pow and blue skies. Hard to beat that.

A bit belated, but it is good to see winter back in Fernie.

Hope the snow holds up until spring.

    Nice FFH!

Bringing back memories of when you were kind enough to show us around Snake ridge and such....

Here is hoping the Fernie continues to get pounded.

    Cheers.

It was all the people from Louisiana here last weekend to escape Mardi Gras.
Personally, I was lapping the canyon until my legs gave out.

The new snow was soooooo nice after 3 weeks of warm temps and no snow.
