    FS: Hammerschimdt AM

SRAM Hammerschmidt AM, 170 mm cranks. Used but in good shape. Includes all the original bits and pieces, most of which have never been used. Includes both the 24 and the 22 tooth rings, various spacers, different chain guides, etc.

There's some relatively minor wear from heel rub on the cranks, the bashguard has some minor scratches (no significant hits, just scratches from rocks popping up), and the non-drive bottom bracket cup has a really small ding in it, presumably from a rock popping up and hitting it. None of these have any effect whatsoever on the functionality.

Edit: I'm including a SRAM XO front shifter.

$290 shipped, or make an offer.

Questions because I understand very little about these thangs:
    1. Does it take a standard shifter?
    2. Which is the drag gear? The small "ring" or the big "ring"?

    1) When I typed that up a bit ago, I forgot that the shifters are specific to the Hammerschmidt, so I'm including the XO front shifter. I bumped the price up a little bit accordingly. The shifter is in good shape.
    2) the "big" gear is the drag gear. When you're climbing, there's no more drag than with a regular crankset. When you shift to the "big" ring, there's some additional drag.

I could live with that. If the small ring was the drag gear, it would be more of a drag.

What do those things weigh in at?

I think the whole setup is around 1500 grams (cranks, BB, and shifter). I haven't personally weighed it though.

BTW, despite what Sram says, any front shifter will work with these.
I've been using XTR on mine and it works perfectly.

Mid-week bump. You know you want to shift while backpedaling.

Hard to believe people haven't jumped on this.
Great price on a product that really is a game changer.
Until you've used one, you can't imagine how well it works. Shifting is instant in any situation. I find myself using the front shifter all the time. It's like being able to instantly drop 5 gears at any time, even under full power.
The weight isn't that big an issue when you consider you're replacing both chainrings and the front derailleur along with the cranks.

I'm on my 3rd season on hammerschmidt on a Marin Attack Trail. It is frikkin awesome and I prefer it to 2x10 for "trail" riding around Fernie.

I have had no issues with mine and the OPs price is beyond reasonable.

Well, the crank arms are a bit short of normal riding, maybe that's why it's not gone.
How does one use a normal shifter for it? Is it just that the push pull is reversed?
    No longer stuck.

170mm is pretty common, isn't it?

Anyway, it works like a derailleur; move the shifter which pulls the cable which shifts the gear. It just does it better and faster.
