Ocean temps are consistently rising, atmospheric patterns beginning to switch from ENSO neutral to Nino. Climate models are mostly in unison. NOAA released its latest prediction today: weak to moderate strength El Nino for winter '12-'13. My predictions: the Tetons get only 300 to 400 inches of snow, several really huge storm systems will hammer the Cascades and Sierras but fizzle out before any snow gets inland to the Tetons and this year the Tetons won't be the only place in the lower 48 with good snow for the xmas holidays. We had very good water years for 5 out of the last 7 winters and that's about as good as it gets around here. We are due for some drought and it feels like it is here already. So far this summer, the Tetons have had barely two inches of rain over the last two months. That would make for about 25-30 inches of snow spread over 60 days......
