It's called market research. They did studies and thought that commercial would blow a certain peoples sails in Latin America. Obviously according to DeutschBag, marketers have found a similar response to these type of ads in Germany.

Here's the thing about market research. They don't ask "how do I get everyone to drink coke"? They pin point a very specific demographic and cater to those. For example males in their early 20's that are single in Latin America that consume less than 2 carbonated beverages in a week (as an example). I can guarantee the parameters for the research for this ad had jackfuckall to do with any category you fit into. They weren't targeting you and it's a good thing because they would have failed.

the same technique is used everywhere and the same argument works anywhere. it's just more comical in the u.s. for instance, well more than half my family is from latin america. people down here drink literally boatloads of coke. the only target audience is anybody who would react like a bunch of people here have reacted. advertisers always think they have some special knowledge. it makes them feel better for being shills even though huge chunks of market research come up with nothing but the obvious.
