Running down Torrey's to Grey's saddle this morning on some scree, totally retarded, and felt some popping and cracking in my left anke when it inevitably rolled. Kept trucking and pain went away quick, however the feeling of the pops and cracks were very strange. Finished the route with no issues and even continued to run after a bit all the way to the car. A tiny bit of swelling but no real pain. Has anyone experienced popping and cracking in there ankle after rolling it and escaped with no issues?
Haven't ever rolled the ankle and had the issue you're describing, but possibly insightful: I went to a chiropractor several months ago when I felt like I'd pinched a nerve in my back. He asked if I had any other complaints and I said that my ankle was popping when I'd gone hiking a couple of days prior, which I'd never had before. He briefly examined my ankle and then made "an adjustment" to it; I heard some popping and cracking when he made the adjustment and then I was good to go. In your case, even though less likely, I suppose your ankle might have been out of alignment when you heard it popping and cracking and you did a self adjustment to it when it rolled; I suppose more probable is that you tweaked it enough for it to swell but not enough to have major tendon and ligament issues. Either way, glad you were able to go away unscathed to come back again another day!
